I am guessing there wasn't many.

NWA and ECW only?

First one on record in the US?

Has the WWF ever had one? (I don't think so)

There was one on one of the WCCW Parade of Champions shows. Gordy-Khan maybe?

Obviously, the exact stipulations of these matches were all different. Sometimes the barbed wire just a weapon, or surrounded the top of a cage, rather than a full replace-the-ropes variety. Of course this is nowhere near complete. There should be a load of CZW matches in there. The only time WWE has ever used barbed wire in a stipulation is the No Way Out cage match between JBL and Big Show listed above.

Forgot about the XPWs of the world. Indy feds probably had them also.

I think those ECW Ian vs Axl were 'baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire' and they went out into the crowd with that shit

Yeah, I just took any match that had "barbed wire" in the description. Hard to tell which matches were barbed wire instead of ring-ropes, which I think is what you were looking for.

No doubt there were some in IWA Mid-South.

They went back to the 50's. Bruiser and Ellis had some and if memory serves me there were some barbed wire matches in Texas too during the 50's.

Fairly certain that's not a comprehensive list and there was a Hogan cage match in WCW that had barbed wire at the top. Maybe against Savage or even Flair. But if you include all matches with any barbed wire involvement, that got toyed with a lot in the '90s, even if some of it was worked and rubber.

Also feel like Dory Funk, Sr. had some back in the day.

I didn't say it was comprehensive. Just what I got from a Google search from one site. Feel free to add your own matches, and we can make a better list.

The WCW match was Flair vs Hogan at Uncensored 99. I'll add that to the list. If I remember correctly, the wire there was a bait and switch, and never came into play in the match.

They had chicken-wire fence matches in Amarillo, but never barbed wire. I think a lot of the old-school "barbed wire" matches are just Chinese whispers where someone read "wire" and then assumed the rest.

On a side note, the Dusty vs Tully bared wire ladder match in the list from 1987 GAB tour will be in the ladder match collection going onto the network on Monday. I've never seen it. Is it any good?

I've seen results for barbed wire matches going way back (1950's), also chicken wire matches if that counts.

i've got a picture of a barbed wire cage match in Hawaii at the Civic, from May 1967
