Now I know why he reminds of the kid from Dazed and Confused. It's not just the hair.

They did? Holy crap, talk about the one that got away. That would've gone down in the annals of the all time most lopsided trades of all time.

Dec. 2007, J.P. Retardi offers Rios for Lincecum. a done deal until it was time for the
Giants to sign on the dotted line. The Giants back out at the last minute.
A rotation of Halliday, Lincecum, Burnett, .......

Well, at least you can take solace in the fact that it was the Giants that put the kibosh on that deal. It would've been much more difficult to take had the Jays suddenly gotten cold feet.

I was just about to post the same thing. Great pickup by the Twins to fill a hole. Brewers get Carlos Gomez in return.

I disagree with the giveaway part, Gomez has tremendous speed and will roam centerfield. Not only does that open up SS for Alcides Escobar, it also means that Mike Cameron won't be back for 2010. That frees up $10 million a year in salary, which is a plus for the small market Brewers. This is the last year on Suppan's deal as well so theres more wiggle room to throw money at Prince Fielder.

True about Gomez' speed and defensive prowess, but offesively, he's mediocre at best, awful at worst.
How's that old saying go? "You can't steal first base"?

| Carlos Gomez is not a major leaguer offensively.

I don't believe that for one second. No way Giants trade Lincecum. That would have gotten Brian Sabean shot.

Some how he made a deal with the DA and just got a 250.00 fine with charges dropped.
