Let's hope New Orleans doesn't get destroyed again tonight or after they win the Super Bowl!

Can't see him getting much sympathy this time around after single-handily destroying his team's Super Bowl berth. That was a BAD INT Choke Job Right There!!

What's the over/under on how many saccharine interviews we see with Archie Manning about his old team vs. his son's team?

I'm waiting, also, and it will occur before midnight on the East Cost.  It HAS to!  The world would not just be right, if it didn't.

I wonder, how many of these guys who were in the playoffs and made the pro bowl will actually show up and play next weekend?

Favre refused to do interviews....the drama queen probably is waiting to garner all the spotlights and cameras.

It took about 90 seconds into the postgame show before exactly that point came up.

All the officials cheating in the world can't stop favre from throwing a last-minute INT in the New Orleans Red Zone with the game on the line.

just sayin.

Didn't even make it to the red Zone before throwing the game killing pick this time!

I guaranteed every one I know that Favre will throw a crucial late pick or two. It's a constant of his championship performances since the Denver Super Bowl.

WHO DAT!?!?!?

I was waiting for that interception all season long. Kinda glad it ended Favre's season.

I know it's kewl to bash Favre, but that pick wasn't as bad as you and the announcers are pretending it was.

It's 3rd and 15 and no one gets open, so Favre's options are:

A. Throw it away which means the Vikings are looking at a 54 yard fiend goal with a minute and a half left. That's a pretty tough make in that environment under that kind of pressure.

Then the question is do they risk the blocked kick or the miss and give the Saints great field position with over a minute and a half and 2 Tos? There is an outside chance they play it safe and punt, and hope for OT. (I doubt it, but still...)

B. He can run it. If you listen to Aikman he could have run for "at least ten or 15 yards." I Tivoed the game and went back to see if he could and he couldn't have. There are 3 defenders in front of him covering the short receiver. There is a ten yard gap between them, but Favre is 5 yards behind the LOS. If he runs the ball on his sprained ankle he he gets 3 yards tops, and sets up a 51 yard field goal which Aikman referred to as a "chip shot."

Or

C. He can force a pass across the grain to the best receiver on the field for a chance at a first down. If they gain no more yards they set up at worst a 39 yard field goal. It's a pass he has successfully thrown hundreds of times. I know it's the cardinal sin of QBs, but Brett's made a living off of doing it.

So he played it aggressively and tried to win the game, and was unsuccessful.

Did it cost them the game? Only if you believe like Aikman did that a 50 plus yard FG in that environment is a chip shot. Maybe Longwell had that one in him. He's a hell of a kicker, and it was better to have the shot and miss than to turn the ball over. I'm not saying it wasn't, but the game wasn't in the bag.

Factor in that the pick didn't give the Saints the win in any way, and that Peterson and Berrian's red zone fumbles were way more costly that that interception. If they get field goals out of either of those possessions the game is over.

Just the facts...
Now you can all get back to bashing Brett.

Tho it wouldn't have been a "chip shot" Longwell was 2 for 2 from over 50 yards.

Farve did have a good shot to gain 3-6 yards if he would have scrambled giving Longwell a shot at winning the game.

But the way it turned out was better.:D

There wasn't 1.5 minutes left, there was 19 seconds. Even if Favre had tossed it to the sidelines, they go for the FG, miss, and give NO the ball with @ 15 seconds left at their own 37 with NO having no more timeouts. NO would have to toss a good 25 yard sideline pass in one play, get out of bounds just to kick a 54 yarder themselves. Highly unlikely.

He fucked up. He tossed it in the middle of the field with 19 seconds left to not give his team the chance to win.
