Every team has had some players who the homefans have hated regardless. Whether the guy was a draft or free agent bust, was perceived as lazy, made some dumb comments to the press, got into an off the field scandal or just rubbed people the wrong way, there's always someone the fans couldn't stand.

In recent years, the best Minnesota example would have been when AJ Pierzynski was with the Twins. He's not exactly the warmest and friendliest guy anyway, but then ESPN.com had a story noting that he was generally disliked by his teammates. That was all Twins fans needed to turn him into the local heel. Even though AJ batted .300 and was an All Star in 2002 and batted .312 and had 74 RBIs in 2003 on a pair of AL Central pennant teams, the fans hated the guy and got on him for the slightest infraction.

What player fits the bill for your team?

Jaromir Jagr at the end of his run with the Pens pretty much went insane with jealousy that he wasn't more loved than Mario. Pittsburgh fans eventually got tired of his bullshit and most were happy when he was traded away.

Of course Barry Bonds with the Pirates. We knew way back in 1989 what the rest of the league would learn during the HR years: dude's a prick who seeming hates everything in baseball but himself. Of course he said it was because Pittsburgh fans are racist, which of course is the first thing you would say about fans who's favorite players of all time are Clemente and Stargell.

Ricky Watters in his first game in Philly pulled up short on a pass play and when the media called him on it he answered "For who? for what?"

We warmed up to him as the season progressed but he had "nuclear heat" (to use a wrestling term) going for awhile

Chicago Bulls fans booed back up Center Stacey King at the NBA championship celebration in Grant Park. Stacey or as I called him Stinky was a real disappointment as a pro. He never could dunk the ball and ended up eating himself out of the league.

On a side note, King currently is the color commentator for the Bulls on TV.

Cubs fan detested Milton Bradley.

And Sammy Sosa also got some boos towards the end of his Chicago run.

The end of Manny's run with the Sox was the first thing that came to mind.

Also Jack Clark during his Red Sox run got some pretty good heat.

Bill Hall with the Milwaukee Brewers, had a good '06 and got a big deal. Hit in the lower .200's every year after.

Jeff Suppan holding the honor right now. Contract expires this year, but since coming to Milwaukee his ERA has ballooned and hasn't been worth the cash. Also stunk in the playoff run.

At varying points Damaso Garcia (after he burned his uniform in the locker room) and George Bell (after telling people to kiss his purple ass) fit the bill for the Jays.

I seem to remember Mike Schmidt getting booed pretty regular in Philly. I think they hate everybody up there.

When stingmark finds this thread I hope he itemizes the top ten fan-hated Detroit Wings/Lions/Pistons for us, though he might have trouble selecting ten from his personal list!:)

Aaron Brooks.  Even when he was playing pretty darn well and coming off of the first Saints post season win in history, most fans HATED him.  I still believe that had a lot to do with his regression after his first 2 or 3 season which showed a lot of promise.  Once he signed his big contract, it was like he said "to hell with these people who boo me and treat me like crap. I ain't gonna stress it".

Joey Harrington. Poor Joey signed as a backup but was forced into the #1 spot when Michael Vick got in trouble. Falcons fans, who seem to be comprised of about 95% idiots, never gave him a shot. Joe Horn, Roddy White, and Alge Crumpler publicly supported Vick which garnered them support and the trio half-assed it all year which even further hurt Harrington. Horn soon lost his support because he was quite worthless at this point.

Isaiah Rider. Thanks a lot, Hawks management.

Greg Norton. He made a lot of friends with this 2009 stat line: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/n/nortogr01.shtml. Most people wished Bobby Cox had retired this year, too, instead of going one more.

Agree with those and then also add Cliff Stoudt from the Steelers side of things.

Sorta off topic but I attended this game. All the disgusted Bears fans at Soldier Field chanted STRIKE!! at the Bears as the team left the field.
