See The Saints, Giants and Patriots. Pick one of those three teams. I can't see the Jets doing it this year. I have no faith in their QB Sanchez.

Well, Rex is the son of the great Buddy Ryan. You have a good point, Claw. The Jets are up there.

Yup. Very entertaining.

As a Buccaneer fan who also roots for the Lions all I can say is root for them out of sheer pity.

Plus both teams are undefeated in the Super Bowl.  The Bucs did it with a dominating win over the Raiders.  The Lions are undefeated for a completely different reason and probably always will be.

Enjoy some mana.

I've heard of people who write to all teams saying they are looking for a team to root for, in hopes of getting free merchandise.  Sometimes a team will send free stuff to the fan.

This probably isn't a bad approach, Ted. You could write a couple of letters to the teams you're considering and see which one of them bribe you the most.

Because after years and years of being an underdog, often a TERRIBLE team, and (in the past couple decades or so) occasionally been competitive enough to disappoint fans when they blow big games or seasons, they are now THE HUNTED.  From America's feel good story last year to the team everyone is gunning for and more people will be against because of the band-wagoners. They are one of, if not THE, most exciting team to watch because of a high octane offense and an aggressive, risk-taking (though far from sturdy) defense, top notch special teams and a coach with nuts like King Kong. They have one of the true super QB's of the league, a top notch O-Line, and big time playmakers at various skill positions.  And they have a chance to join the very rare club that repeats as champs after their 1st championship win.  For interest level, I think THE SAINTS are hard to beat if looking for a team to follow closely week after week.

Plus, New Orleans is one of the most unique and interesting places in the country & the Gulf South has been a hot topic these past few years.  Get in now with the league's next dynasty!  Watch 'em do what everyone says can't be done (again)!

He'd be a bandwagon fan then.  He can't start cheering for a front runner.  Pick the Bucs or Lions.

I have been a Vikings fan most of my life.  I don't think I have anything to offer to make you like them.  Everyone hates Brett Favre, they never won a Super Bowl but have choked many time sin big Playoff games, their coach is a pussy and its cold as a witches tit there.  Ummm Viking women have blonde hair and big ankles?  We don't suck as bad as Detroit?  Its better than being a Cowboys fan?

Yeah, but you get to take bets on whether your highly talented team's season will end on a Favre INT (always a safe bet - I'm still bragging about my call on that last year), a Peterson fumble, gross mismanagement by the coach, or a combination of the above.

Root for the Pats. That's my favorite "AFC" team. Love the arrogance from the coach and 4th and Go For Its.

Hey Beej, what is Your opinion on the Eagles employing Vick?

So far the standings are: ( subject to change, of course)

1. Jets
2. Lions
3. Bears
4. Niners
5. G-Men

Eff the Jets. Don't get caught in the hype. Their bandwagon is filling up and they have some punks on the team too.

Lions should be fun to watch and I think they are on the rise, but they won't be a true contender yet. If you want to win it all now, no, but if you might stick with them it might be good to get in now before they blow up and the bandwagon fills up.

Eff the Bears

49ers are in a similar boat to the Lions, IMO. I could see rooting for them.  I expect them to be better than the Lions right now too. I'm picking them to win their division.

I like the G-Men and am a big Eli fan, but if you are boycotting the Eagles just because of the Vick situation, do you really want to switch over to an in-division rival?

But I still say the Saints. Yes, they are the champs and had an overflowing bandwagon last year, but so many are already jumping off and hardly anyone outside of their serious fan base thinks they have a prayer to repeat. I think rooting for them to repeat after 45 years of futility will be more fun than last year, and that's saying a LOT because last year was straight magic.  And like I said, no one is more fun to watch.

I like them a lot too. The Saints are blatantly trying to emulate them, right down to the arrogant coaching staff, ballsy playcalling and hard working scouting department and I love it.

They are keeping him and putting in spot plays for him to "justify" their signing of him. I don't think he can play anymore and he won't be on the team next year.
