If you are going to do that, you better have the character to back it up, and so far, the Heat haven't. You're making judgments based on a relatively meaningless regular season where the Heat's goals should be to win enough games to not be on the road the whole time in the playoffs, get these guys to play together and know each other better and go into the playoffs healthy. I'm not sure they haven't accomplished those things. We're talking about a team playing just under .700 basketball and we're stating that they are "done" and "underachievers". I'll judge their "character" and "grit" based on when they are down 3-2 in a round of the playoffs but they haven't (and won't) face anything like that in the regular season.

I understand what you're saying, but if they can't beat these teams now, what makes you think they can when it "counts", when it's game 6 on the road and they're down 3-2? You're making an assumption that the regular season means nothing, that they can just turn it on like a light switch. If that is the case, why have a regular season? Let's go right to the playoffs. I know it's only my opinion, but I fully believe beating these teams during the season in big games goes a long way in giving you confidence to beat them when it counts.

They have had 16 chances to hit game winning shots in the closing seconds, and have only hit 1. The funny part about the one they hit was that the other team came back and hit a shot to beat them.

7 straight loses against teams with a winning record. I watched the 4th quarter last night, there's nobody to blame but the players, Lebron and Wade just go down and jack up shots like nobodies business..

They forgot about their supporting cast because it is horrible, Mike Miller can't hit open shots anymore, James Jones is inconsistent as well is Eddie House, but i think it is funny that people are shocked by this with the exception of Boston most other NBA superteam have failed also, i think baseball is the only sport that works in 99.9% of the time unless your the Mets

Superteams in the NBA can work if the salaries are not out of whack like they are on the Heat. When 3 players are taking around 50% of the salary cap space, its hard to get a decent bench to support them The Bulls in the 90's it worked with Pippen and Jordan being the highest paid players, but they also found bench players and support players that could compliment them to win games, the Heat have no such complimentary players who can help when they struggle or being defended against

So they may need a little "help" later on but I have faith in the NBA that it will be there for them

It's the damn talking heads looking for something to make into a story. It's like in baseball, when the Astros (for example) were "out of it" because they were 7 games back with only 80 gams left to play. Or in College Football where we were having debates about Boise State as national champs after week 3.

^ That's right. There is programming to fill on a 24-7 basis. Frankly, almost every team becomes "the worst in the league" for about two weeks. Then they regroup and someone else takes the title.

Bulls kicked Boston's ass last night. Chicago's magic number for home court throughout the Eastern Conference Playoffs is one.

I can't predict the future, but I have a feeling that in retrospect the Celtics giving up Perkins will be viewed as one of the worst decisions ever made.

Perkins being hurt for game 7 last year was probably the difference in winning or losing that series. I heard Doc Rivers on the radio the other day saying that the were desperately looking for a lineup that could give them some interior defense. All I could think was, "didn't you just trade a top 3 league-wide interior defender, arguably number 1, away a few weeks ago?"
