Good point. When Anfernee Hardaway left Memphis State for the NBA, I was an Orlando Magic fan for a few years. Surprised I didn't mention that earlier.

So then you need to have a lot of disposable income to be a fan.  Interesting theory.  But judging from the typical English soccer hooligan, I can believe that all their money goes towards tickets and not a flat with indoor plumbing or new clothes.

Corrected. You weren't to know.

All those Old Firm IRA and UDF supporters are English then?  Interesting.

And anyone who knows anything about hooligans knows they spend a fuck of an amount on new clothes.

Those sectarian idiots may not be English, but they aren't hooligans either. Not in the "Green Street" of "Football Factory" sense.

And everyone knows that all football hooligans from Britain are English. The fact that the Tartan Army behaves themselves is clearly because we want to be the distinct opposite to the English. So goes the theory anyway...

As far as the clothes... indeed. Football "hooligans" can also be classed as "casuals", so called because of how well they dressed in their "casual" clothes, rather than the traditional coat and scarf of a regular, well-behaved, fan. Burberry in particular did very well from this.

Not having seen either, what is that sense?

Before I was a fan of MLB my Dad bought me the Rod Carew Batting Trainer, so Rod was my favorite player. I started following baseball in 78 so the Twins were my team, but I switched to the Angels when Carew was traded in 79. The Tigers are always a close second.

I became a Bucs fan when I started following the NFL. I was in Upper Michigan which is Packer Country, but my Dad was a Lions fan. All the kids at school were getting NFL Varsity Jackets, and I wanted one too, but I wasn't going to wear the Lions or Packers to school. (1979- They were the worst and 3rd worst teams in the NFL IIRC)

I wanted to be original and other kids I knew had the Dolphins, Rams, Cowboys, Steelers, Raiders, and Vikings, so I went with the Buccaneers. They were tough in 79. I've been a Bucs fan ever since.

And you give me shit all the time about liking someone besides a Detroit player, and you're not even a Detroit fan? isn't that funny. YOU have nothing to say to me then, ALL of my teams are from Detroit, and I follow them first and foremost. I do follow a few others, but, not as much as Detroit teams.

Im a fucking Lions fan, you have to be a die hard to be a Lions fan. And Sin, YOU of all people should know: things werent always as rosey for the Wings as they have been in recent years. They stunk for many many years. I remember going to the Joe w/my buddies, and we'd wear bags over our heads and call ourselves(along with many others folks in the house), "Dead Wings fans". But, I stuck with them, through thick and thin, you have to IMO. Just like I do with all the other teams.

On a side note: Many Laker fans are bandwagon fans. Didnt like em when: Sedell Threat, or Nick Van Exel played for them, but now that they're winning, there are all these "Die hard" Laker fans "all of a sudden"?

Wrong again Sting. I give you shit for being a Wings fan who one said you'd suck Joe Sakic's cock. I have no problem with your closeted homosexual tendencies, but to claim to be a Wings fan and then fantasize about an Avs player is obscene. It's like being a Michigan fan, but rooting for Ohio State.

Really? I'd  said I'd suck Joe sakic's cock? when did i say this? Never said anything of the sort.  Answer the question....or, do what you usually do, avoid it b/c you know you're fulla shit. However, you know nothing about Detroit sports, and shouldnt say anything, because:

You"re not a Lions fan, so how would you know, or care about the team, since youve just admitted above you're a Bucs fan? So, next time, when i talk about the Lions,  I want to hear from someone who's actually a fan of the team, not someone who claims to be, but says they're a Bucs fan? How would you know how good or bad Jeff backus is, if you're not a fan or you dont follow the team, you're a Bucs fan?go celebrate their 1 sb victory on a Bucs board. Probably not a Tigers/Pistons Wolverines fan either.

What you said about Michigan and OSU? heed your own advice...thats exacvtly what describes you. You claim to know so much about the Lions and Im sure other detroit teams , yet you admit you dont follow any of them,  but the Wings, and i doubt you're that big of a fan of them too?amazing.

You're not even a Tigers fan either, you're an admitted Twins/Angels fan, so again, why do you comment about things/teams you dont follow, or know nothing about?

Lets see, you're not a Lions fan, you're a Bucs fan, yet you claim to be a fan of the Lions, but, you';re not. Same w/the Tigers? I bet you're not a Pistons fan either.

I find it comical to say the least, that you're so worried about something i said about some other player, and you're not even a fan of 3-4 Detroit teams? yet, you find the need to try to be funny, and claim I said something i didnt say about a non Detroit player?

I like Nolan Ryan too, uh oh, now i want to suck him off too? he's not a Tigers player, nor did he ever play for a Detroit team. had no idea, i had to run anything i like by you?

I love how everyone, even the usually well-mannered Brit posters, loses their shit in a thread about sports loyalties.

If The Bears win and The Packers win this weekend in the NFL playoffs, you'll see a ton of douchbaggery. It's been a long time since both teams were contenders. The rivalry is still there. I hate The Packers and The Vikings. Always have. Always will. I'll start hating the Lions again too if they ever get their shit together.

7. A beloved head coach/manager is fired or leaves to join another team. In Chicago, this has happened a few times. First when Mike Ditka got fired from Da Bears and eventually ended up coaching the New Orleans Saints. Some Bears fans actually started rooting for the Saints. I'm not kidding. My dad was one of them.

The second example is when Mike Keenan was fired by the Black Hawks and was replaced by Darryl Sutter as head coach. Keenan eventually ended up with the New York Rangers. I rooted for the Rangers the year they won the Stanley Cup.

^ Kinda like people in Philly cheering for the St Louis Rams when they played the Titans in the Super Bowl (Vermeil was coaching the Rams)

But that was just for a game or two.

Funny though there are billboards in Philly with Vermeil's face on them, no caption below as to who it is, he hasn't coached here in thirty years but everyone knows who it is

I know. But the Lions are close to getting their shit together. They just need to learn how to win. It takes a while for a young team to learn how to do that.

Lemme get this straight, Sting, no one can have an opinion on the Lions except a Lions fan. So you are in the Percy Pringle camp of "you're not a werker so your opinion is wrong."

So in your opinion when this board is discussing football no one can comment on the Lions but you. Go fuck yourself on that one. I watch the Lions every week and go to an occasional game, so I am qualified to to have an opinion on them even if they are just my second favorite team.

In your post you said I admit I don't follow any Detroit teams. I'd like you to find the post where I admitted that. I said the Angels and Bucs are my favorite teams, but I actually follow the Lions and Tigers more closely because that's who gets the TV coverage in my area.

I have always been a Pistons and Red Wings Fan. I remember sharing PMs with you at OSW when "Fucking Sheed" didn't guard Big Shot Bobby (Horry) on the in bounds play in the NBA Finals, so I know you I am a Pistons fan.

By the way, Jeff Backus was picked as the most underrated Left Tackles in the NFL, and the Lions gave up the 6th fewest sacks in the league, so that shows what the fuck you know.

I'll see if I can find the thread when you talked about sucking Sakic's cock if you haven't edited it by now.
