Glad the Red Sox didn't trade a couple of good prospects for him.

Agreed.  I'm fine to ride out Reddick and Kalish, if/when he gets brought up to the big club.

Just as long as it's not Drew.

The St. Louis Cardinals have traded center fielder Colby Rasmus to Toronto for a multi-player package that includes starting pitcher Edwin Jackson, sources tell ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Jackson was dealt earlier Wednesday from the White Sox to the Blue Jays to set up the Toronto-St. Louis trade.

The Cardinals also are sending pitchers Trever Miller, Brian Tallet and P.J. Walters to Toronto for pitchers Marc Rzepczynski and Octavio Dotel and outfielder Corey Patterson, the sources told Olney.

Sources also told Olney that Miller will be sent to the White Sox.

Trading Rasmus for a starter's not the worst deal in the world though, is it? Especially if Jackson does well.

Jackson , at best, is only a .500 pitcher.

You say it as if Duncan is a bum ass pitching coach. Watch Jackson turn into dominant pitcher with St Louis medical staff and Dave Duncan.

Jackson would then be flipped to the Cardinals for Colby Rasmus. There
might be other players involved in the Rasmus deal.

The prospect going to the Sox with Frasor is Zach Stewart. He was expected
to make the Jays starting rotation next year.

On paper, that looks like a real crappy deal for the Blue Jays.  Why would they have done that?  They're below .500 and 11 games out from the Wild Card.

It depends on the Cardinals deal. The Jays need an outfielder. Corey Patterson
& Rajai Davis aren't cutting it. Rasmus is only 24 & the Jays see him as their
centerfielder for the future.  Plus if the Jays can't get a thirdbaseman in the offseason, they might put Bautista back at third.

Brett Lawrie will be playing 3b next year I bet. Then move Bautista back to RF, Rasmus/Thames in CF, and Snider/Thames in LF. Lind at 1b, Hill at 2nd, Escobar at SS and Arencibia at C. That makes for a lineup with some good pop...considering you already have Arencibia hitting 9th and leading all AL catchers in HR, and 3rd in RBI's. Imagine when he actually learns to hit and moves his average up.

Everyone that has watched JP come up through the system has stated that this is what you get with him. 25 HR's and no better than a .250 BA. He has a LONG swing and misses way too much to hit any higher than that.

Plus, Travis D'Arnaud is a better hitting prospect and will probably supplant Arencibia within 2 years

The guy was lights out in Detroit a few seasons ago, but I must admit I haven't seen him pitch since he left.

Cubs trade Kosuke Fukudome and cash to the Tribe for two prospects.
