I'll never understand athletes who play for crappy team & turn down a
chance to play for a contending team.
Mats Sundin, Carlos Deldago, come to mind.

Looks like Ubaldo Jimenez is going to Cleveland.
Texas trade for reliever Uehara

What'd Cleveland give up for him?

Because he's stupid......what a dolt. Has he ever played in the po's before?
Uh yup.  in 2003.  Remember he lost Game 7 for them because Dusty Baker over used him and sent him out to start the 5th inning when he had already tossed over 100 pitches by then, because the Marlins were swinging at everything in order to get his pitch count up

Still a dummy for not wanting to go to the Phillies....

Maybe he doesn't want to be in a pressure situation again, considering how badly he choked last time he was in the post season and used

Plus this may be his last year(according to him) so he probably doesn't want to pack up for 4 months and go somewhere else, not everyone wants to win it all for the sake of it you know

I'm not saying its a smart move, but I can see where he may be coming from though

Yeah, not wanting to win a WS(and go out a winner) would definitely be something I'd want to do in his shoes?

When Brian Giles was with San Diego, he turned down a trade to Boston. Guys make so much money now the postseason isn't a big incentive. If they're comfortable where they are, they stay put.

yep, its the money more than anything.  Heck no trade clauses are given out like candy these days also, plus MLB has a rule where a player automatically gets a no trade clause after a few years on the same team as well.

Rumor is that the A's are sending Rich Harden to the RedSox and Coco Crisp to the Braves for minor leaguers.

The Sox didn't really give up a ton of a lot to get him, but I still hate this deal. Harden is useless.

Don't sweat it - the trade fell through.

Is tagging along as a spare arm in the bullpen (which is all Wood would be) really all that fulfilling? I'd want to get my ring by earning it myself on the field, not as a hanger-on at the end of my career a la Karl Malone. Throw in what mike said about having to pack up and move away from his family and it's not all that cut-and-dried.

Same deal with Giles. I think I'd take living in San Diego over living in Boston.
