Pence is going to the Phillies......WTF?

Damn, Beejmi, first your boys got Roy O last year and now you take the last bright hope we had this season. I am start to think that our new owner is going to raze the team entirely before things start to look up.:X

I wish that the Phils gave up Dom Brown instead of Cosart. Singleton could really be a special player for Houston in the future.

Brown sent to the minors for the rest of the season. Will be back up for the playoffs.

The Phillies are looking for Raul to be gone after the season. So Brown will likely play LF next year.

As I said earlier, I wish that They could've traded Brown instead of Singleton. Brown has more holes in His Swing then Swiss Cheese.

Pirates get Ryan Ludwick for player to be named later. Kind of odd to see not only the Pirates making deals to add to the team for the present, but to make deals that are actually in their favor. They just added two decent bats that upgrade their lineup for practically nothing.

Red Sox pick up Erik Bedard from Seattle in a 3 team deal.

from cbssports.com

A day after their trade for Rich Harden fell through over reported concerns about his health, the Red Sox traded for another oft-injured pitcher, acquiring left-hander Erik Bedard from the Mariners in a three-team trade that also included the Dodgers, sources confirmed to CBSSports.com.

The deal was completed just before the 4 p.m. ET non-waiver trade deadline.

The Red Sox traded Double-A catcher Tim Federowicz and pitchers Steven Fife and Juan Rodriguez to the Dodgers, who then sent outfielder Trayvon Robinson to the Mariners. Bedard and Josh Fields go to the Red Sox, who will also send another minor leaguer to Seattle.

Bedard didn't make it out of the second inning in a horrible showcase start Friday night, when he came off the disabled list to pitch against the Rays. But the Red Sox obviously came out of that game convinced that Bedard was healthy, and with Hiroki Kuroda and Ubaldo Jimenez unavailable, and with Harden deal having collapsed, the Red Sox took a chance.

The Red Sox had been looking for rotation depth, especially with Clay Buchholz in California to see a back specialist early this week.

I was at today's Braves game and the Braves fielded a fucking minor-league team today. No McAnn,Chipper, even David Ross.
Heyward seems to finally get his stroke going.

I'd definitely fire the Braves hitting coach. The entire team with about 3 exceptions are below .250.

Well, the Braves are in a tough spot.  McCann is on the DL, Chipper Jones is injured, McLouth is on the DL, and David Ross can't catch every day.

This is more like it. I like Bedard way more than Harden. This deal I'm okay with.

Fun Fact: The Astros, their AAA team, their AA team, and their top A team all have the worst record in their respective leagues.

There was reportedly a deal to send Wandy to the Yankees, but it fell through. No one wants Lee because of his huge contract.

The Rangers got two middle relief pitchers, a Japanese guy from Baltimore and the setup guy from San Diego. I'd liked to have gotten Heath Bell; Feliz makes me nervous.

At least we're consistent from top to bottom.

Lf Schierholtz
Cf Rowand
RF Beltran
P Zito

Last years WS starters

C Posey
1b Huff
2b Sanchez
SS Renteria
3b Uribe
Lf Burrell
Cf Torres

Uehara is the Japanese pitcher.  He is sick. 1.75 ERA.  He doesn't throw overly hard but has some crazy movement and makes a lot of bats miss.  He just gets lost on a crappy Orioles team, that's why a lot of people don't know about him.

What are your thoughts on the Braves hitting this year?

Also, Nate Mclouth is awful. Jordan Shafer was bad too but they dealt him for Michael Bourn.

Question for the Giants fans and Bay Area posters here at the board, what was the talk like regarding them acquiring Carlos Beltran from The Mets?

Do most think he will benefit their team (This Mets fan think he definitely will)? Is he someone they'd like to see the team get signed to a contract or are they just content to have him as a "rental?"

And as far as The Mets' end of the trade, is this Zack Wheeler kid for real?
I haven't seen anything from him as he played out in San Jose for the Giants' Class A team. He was their first round pick in the '09 draft at sixth overall and he's a 6'3" right hander who struck out 98 in 88 innings with a 3.99 era. That's about all I know about him and that came from wiki. :) I believe he's in Port St. Lucie, don't know if he's had a start for them yet. For Giants fans, how far along is he to be able to hang in the big leagues?

I'm not disputing that McLouth is bad, but he was a starter, and another scratch in the lineup today.

Overall, relative to the National League the Braves are hitting poorly for average (13th), well for home runs (3rd), and middle-of-the-road for RBI (9th).  They're middle-of-the-road for total bases and slugging, as well.  So, for hitting, I would categorize them as pretty average.  Jason Heyward and Dan Uggla have been the big disappointments, but Uggla has been playing up to his contract for the past few weeks.  Sure, I'd like them to hit better, but it could be worse.
