I think Gibbs will keep Kyle. They went through something like this with Tony Stewart with Home Depot making comments, and they smoothed everything over. Kyle was on the pit box for the race, so it wasn't like the team banished him.

Tony only caused about a third of the trouble for Gibbs that Kyle has over the years..every time he's screwed up Gibbs has been quick to say "He's my driver, we'll handle this in house" but pre-race today Jerry Punch literally THREE TIMES asked him "Are you keeping him as your driver" and Gibbs danced around the subject and wouldn't give an answer..

At the time though, Tony may have been a bigger deal since NASCAR was still gaining viewers, and he was getting into altercations with the press, which is bad PR. It seemed like Tony was done at the time, but they still stuck with him.

I do see your point, but I believe they will keep him just for the fact they will be able to fill a sponsor real quick if M&M/Mars bolts... he wins races and gets a lot of TV time, some "edgy" company will get behind him.

I don't see this as being like a situation his brother had a few years ago at the end of his Roush contract and the police incident. I do think he is going to be given a hard time in the garage from a lot of people since he did take out a championship contender out of spite .

Kyle would be one of the few guys I could see keeping his seat after this, just based on talent alone. Of course, if M&M's is telling Gibbs they want a different driver in the car, either JGR finds another sponsor for Kyle, or he's going to have to be gone. Can't afford to give up a big time sponsor like that these days in NASCAR, especially when a team like Roush can only get two cars sponsored for next year, they would JUMP at the chance to steal M&M's to sponsor Matt Kenseth instead of running him without a sponsor.

NASCAR itself would want to keep Kyle in the car, he's just one in the long series of black hats on which it relies (in reverse chronological order, Gordon, the 3, Waltrip, anyone from north of the Mason-Dixon line).

Jo, I've been watching since I was a kid in the mid 70's,just FWIW.:)

I do understand that there was precedence for parking Harvick and R. Gordon for messing with NASCAR,but those were completely different as well. In Harvicks case he refused to report to the NASCAR hauler and left the track in a snit, and in Gordons case he ignored a black flag and would not get off of the track.

I honestly cannot ever recall anybody being parked for on track incidents, even when Randy LaJoie parked on the track during a caution and blatantly aimed at another driver or when Edwards nearly sent Keselowski into the stands going 180 MPH in Atlanta, that one would have destroyed NASCAR yet he got away with it,and it was much more blatant.

Last time I even remember someone getting parked for doing something to another driver as opposed to thumbing their nose at NASCAR officials was when Jimmy Spencer punched Kurt Busch in the nose post race.

Of course,if it's Harvick attacking Kyle Busch while Kyle is still strapped in his drivers seat with no way to defend himself,or Carl Edwards starting fistfights in the garage I guess it's okay with NASCAR,but then again they are the golden boys who can do no wrong...........

He already sat out two races over the weekend.

Completely disagree. There's zero precedent from NASCAR about suspending guys for multiple weeks, unless they fail drug tests. Only thing Busch did wrong was make his attempt to wreck Hornaday too obvious.

Carl Edwards got away with sticking Brad Keselowski in the catchfence at Atlanta, and then smashed the hell out of his car in a Nationwide Series race as well, and got sweet fuck all as a suspension.

here's the deal with Carl. He probably should have gotten parked for the Atlanta deal, but in all honesty, that was a fluke deal, Brad going into the fence. Carl just wanted to spin him out, but those damned wings on the cars helped make that wreck a 1000x worse than it normally ever would have been. Earlier in that race Brad had knocked Carl out of the race in a racing deal, and he had knocked Carl around the previous year in a few races. Nascar took that into consideration. The other wreck at the Nationwide race, sorry, that was just racing for the win. Brad knocked Carl out of the groove the lap before to get the lead with one lap to go, Carl came back and turned him for the win..big difference in what Kyle did. Fact is, Kyle has been doing this in the truck series all season and Nascar was fed up with it.

There is the Carl-Brad wreck at Atlanta. It's like night and day, the intent there, with what Kyle did with Ron. Carl just wanted to spin him out, a one in a million chance got him in the air..Kyle intentionally went to destroy Ron's truck and ruin his points run.
