I don't know, Dale Jr. never has gotten burned out and he had about the same fanfare as Danica.

Back then, Gordon was getting just as much press, and I think he burnt out a lot of fans, and many fans jumped at the chance to be Jr. fans, some just so they had someone to root for against Gordon.

I also think Dale Jr's situation is way different as well. Many NASCAR fans have watched him grow up, and will root for him no matter how he does. He is almost family to a lot of his fans, and they want to hear about him, IMO enough to still warrant all the press coverage he gets.

Jeff was mainly seen as a carpetbagger, while Dale Jr. was a good ol' Southern boy who happened to be the heir apparent to NASCAR royalty. He got a pass for a long time because of how tragically his father died (and having battles with the evil stepmother), and it wasn't really until the last couple of years of him doing little with all the resources money can buy did he finally start getting some tough questions thrown his way.

He won that PR war, but now his daddy's race team is just part of a name at this point with all the partners and mergers... I wish she sold it to Jr and his sister.

Is it open yet?

I've never done the fantasy Nascar thing before...at least I don't remember. I will when it does, that is if no one else wants to "Commish" it. Who did it last year?

Who's all interested in playing?
I'll play!

For those of you interested in fantasy leagues, NASCAR.com usually has a bunch of free fantasy games to play that have great prizes (trip to Hall of Fame induction ceremony, $10,000, trip to awards banquet, etc.).

Jeff Gordon was a very polarizing figure in NASCAR. Really the first well-spoken sponsor's golden boy.

New NASCAR fans loved him. Old ones hated him.

Had little to do with Dale Jr. and more to do with the way Gordon was presented. He was the first one not to be a "good ole boy."

Gordon got the Rocky Maivia heat.  Dale Sr the Steve Austin pop.  Basically, in NASCAR, as in the WWF, the audience turned heel.

First pics are out of the 2013 Ford Fusion that will be racing in Cup next year. My friend that is an engineer for Roush told me last year that if you liked old-school Nascar and wanted them to get back to the cars LOOKING like the stock cars like they are doing in Nationwide then we would love this new car. He spoke real highly of it so I've been anxiously waiting for these pics. From what I can see so far in these pictures, he was right, they REALLY did a great job on this car.

Chevy, Dodge and Toyota are gonna have to step up and come up with something that looks this good..

It does look like the Fusion...

... but it is still a Fusion.

The Mustang in the Nationwide looks cool IMO.

I LOVE the Fusions...if my wife and I were going to get a new car these days it'd probably be a Fusion. We're a Ford family, always have been. But the new Fusion I think looks even better than the older ones, I personally LOVE the fact that Ford decided to stick with the new Fusion in Cup and leave the Mustang in Nationwide. STILL can't figure out why the idiots at GM just kept the Impala in NW instead of pushing the Camaro in there, IMO they are losing just guaranteed free marketing there...course, it is GM we're talking about...

When they stopped making the T-Bird, Ford lost me as a supporter... I'd drive an old one though.

Better shots..and from what I've been told, THIS IS IT..this matches Nascar's templates for next year, other than a few minor tweaks, this is what we'll see on the track...
