The way the hawks have went into free-fall, I hope any moves they do make are small, as it looks like a large part of the supporting cast on that team needs to be blown up in the off-season. the chemistry has been off all year, and once Hossa, Toews, Kane and Sharp hit a wall, their defensive shortcomings were exposed even more than early in the year. early in the year they were winning the 6-4 games, not losing them.

I'd rather they miss the playoffs and rebuild it all next year (preferably with a new GM) than make two or three moves, sacrifice some young talent and get into the playoffs in 7th or 8th. They won't advance past the first round this time out..or even make their first round series close, like last year.

The streaky Hawks have now won 4 in a row!!

I liked Quincey when he was in Detroit a few years ago.

I think that Tampa is going to use some of these picks to get a Goalie. Someone like Cory Schneider would help Tampa alot.

Giving up a first rounder for him, while tempered with the knowledge that it'll be pick 26-30 or so, still seems like an awful lot to give up for Quincey.

Definitely shows the price for players at this deadline is really high this time out. It should come down on deadline day somewhat, but that all depends on who finally decides to be sellers by then.

Consider that Yzerman has gone into sell mode only 6 points out of a playoff spot in the East. That seems close but leapfrogging over so many teams with the 3-point games makes it nearly impossible this late in the season. He's being wise in getting assets back for his dumpable players early, IMO.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded veteran forward Antoine Vermette to the Phoenix Coyotes for a second round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (via Ottawa), a fifth round selection in the 2013 Draft and minor-league goaltender Curtis mcElhinney.

Vermette, who is in just the second year of a five-year, $18.75 million contract, has spent the last four years with the Blue Jackets.

The 29-year-old is in his eighth season in the NHL; he's played with both Columbus and the Ottawa Senators.

Vermette also brings 42 games of playoff experience to the table; he helped Ottawa to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006-07 before losing to the Anaheim Ducks.

Not a bad deal for Phoenix. Vermette is probably just happy to get out of Columbus.

So basically Columbus turned Jacob Voracek ( 33 points this season ), the 5th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft which turned out to be Sean Couturier ( 21 points this season ) and the 68th pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft ( Nick Cousins ) into Jack Johnson ( 24 points this season ) and a 1st round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. To make things even worse for Columbus - if LA misses the playoffs this season ( and at this point that seems to be a strong possibility ) then the pick becomes a 2013 1st round pick. I really wish I had picked Columbus GM Scott Howsen in our 2012 Fired Coaches and Managers Pick 'Em Pool as there should be no way he comes back next season.

Shit, that's a done deal???? He's a bit of a head case isn't he? I'm sure being reunited with Mike Richards will help keep him in check (How did they get along in Philly Ted, they're buddies aren't they?).
Darryl Sutter I doubt will put up with his bullshit if things don't go his way in La LA Land.

Jack Johnson must be thrilled with having to make the move to Ohio.:)

Add TMZ to your favorites list next season. Carter and Richards together in LA should be a shitshow

Ther are ALOT of off the Ice reasons on why Richards & Carter got shipped out quick by the Ed Snider, not Homer. Columbus did pretty good in getting what They got for Carter.

So much for the winning streak. The Hawks blew it last night in the 3rd period. With Toews hurt, another long win less streak might commence.
