Atlanta surprises some people by selecting QB Matt Ryan over DT Glenn Dorsey at the No.3 position.

Will the Atlanta accept and have patience with Ryan?  They aresaying Atlanta fans are still in love with Michael Vick.  I would take Ryan over Vick.

Vick = Overrated.

I don't care for Vick & never have but I think the Falcon's should have either traded down or went after Dorsey. They have a lot of holes on both sides of the ball & Dorsey is more likely to make an instant impact than Vick, Plus the Falcons could have picked up Henne in the 2nd round, Bootie in the 3rd or 4th or Flynn on day 2.

Not a big surprise...Under the supervision of Al Davis, the Oakland Raiders take Darren McFadden.

They are building their offensive weaponry in that offensive backfield with Jamracus Russell, but they got issues with the o-line and on the defensive side of the ball.

I think I would have went with Dorsey, also.   I think Ryan wil make decent QB, but Dorsey can become the anchor of that defense for years to come.

Dosey to the Chiefs.  That upset the listings for many mock drafts.  The chiefs were tempted by the offers by the Saints, but they held on to Dorsey.  This was a good move by KC.

Son-of-a-bitch!

New England drafted LB Jerod Mayo at the 10th spot.  I really liked this guy, and I was hoping he was around for consideration for the Steelers.   His stock started rising over the past few days.

NE got a good, solid player with Mayo.  I just did not want to see him go to the Pats.

McFadden...2 fights in bars while underage and father 2 kids without marrying mother. Perfect fit for Raiders. I guess Justin Fargas is looking  for a  new team.

The Steelers selected Rashard Mendenhall RB Illinois at the 23rd position and there is Love and Hate all over the Steelers message boards.

"Did we draft a part-time player with our First Round pick?"

"Don't we have bigger needs?"

"We did what good teams do and draft the best athlete available."

There will be a Big Debate going on in the Steelers Nation for sure for the next several months!

Atlanta drafting Ryan tells a story there. Vick won't be welcomed back.

Oakland drafting Mcfadden was interesting.

Alot of Eagles fans have grown tired of the "draft for the future" mentality when the team has immediate on-the-field-2008 needs. Which always seem to get ignored. Kind of the organization saying "we are smarter than everyone else" (they aren't)

By the way PSV, thanks for providing draft coverage here. You are certainly better thn me on this one and I appreciate the contribution to the board and your thoughts and opinions are a nice twist.

With Mendenhall going to the Steelers, what do Dallas fans think about the drafting of Felix Jones RB from Arkansas?

Was Felix Jones the first Arkansas player drafted by Jerry Jones during his tenure as owner?

I can't speak for the Cowboy fans but Felix Jones is someone that the fanbase in Philly wanted.

People can look at numbers and determine the Eagles weren't the best defensively and need help on the defensive line.

The true story of the 2007 Eagles was they got the ball to the 20 offensively and stalled. All teams had to do was key in on Westbrook (RB) and Curtis (WR) and then watch the rest of the guys named Joe fumble, bumble and drop everything headed their way.

Here is the rest of the First Round:

19 Carolina Jeff Otah,  OT

20 Tampa Bay Aqib Talib, CB

21 Atlanta Sam Baker, OT

22 Dallas Felix Jones, RB

23 Pittsburgh Rashard Mendenhall, RB

24 Tennessee Chris Johnson, RB

25 Dallas Mike Jenkins, CB

26 Houston Duane Brown,  OT

27 San Diego Antoine Cason, CB

28 Seattle Lawrence Jackson, DE

29 San Francisco Kentwan Balmer, DE

30 NY Jets Dustin Keller, TE

31 NY Giants Kenny Phillips, FS

I would say just looking at how things played out that the K.C. Chiefs had a solid First Round.  They could have traded down, butinstead they got two blue-chippers on each side of the ball with Glenn Dorsey and Branden Albert.  Albert may be a little raw, but he has the talent and skill to become an impact player quickly.

What was Tennessee thinking taking Chris Johnson at that position?  I think this was a big reach.

That run on o-linemen sort of threw things out of whack.

Get ready for Round 2!

I like the Bills 2nd round pick better than the 1st rounder. Nice job wasting an 11th overall pick on yet another soon-to-be-useless defensive back

I really thought Hardy was going to be gone in the First Round.

I do not have problem with Leodis McKelvin, but with Buffalo's position there was some very good players still on the board.
