I hope so. Word is that players held a team meeting months ago and asked for Perrilloux's dismissal and I haven't heard nor read a single LSU player take up for him since the end of the season. In fact, most of the comments for the last few months have seemed to indicate they didn't expect him (or want him) to be back.
I know that he never bothered to complete the requirements Les gave him to return to the team and he was reinstated anyway. He was suuposed to be reinstated at least 3 or 4 times before it actually happened, but they kept announcing that he hadn't quite met the requirements yet, and his reinstatement was re-scheduled. That happened over and over until right before the team went to the White House. Perrilloux was reinstated before that trip despite not meeting his obligations because Les thought he deserved to go on the trip. And now he fails a drug test.
I am glad Les did what he did, and I don't think it's too late (in fact, the other QBs have been the only ones practicing since Spring practice started), but I hope the players really didn't have to force his hand. It's good that he listened to them in the long run though. Les may have played it just right in the long run, and he may have showed that he won't bend to the players demands (you have to have a boss/leader), but he WILL listen to them and take measures to benefit the team. Perrilloux certainly can't complian that he didn't get a fair shake.
