Most Phillies Fans don't even realize that Pittsburgh even has a team.

It would take alot more then Marte coming back for the Phillies to deal Hamels to Pittsburgh. McDonald and others would have to be included.

I think the Phillies will end up keeping Hamels and losing him to Free agency to probably the Dodgers, I don't think anyone will trade top prospects and major League talent for a 2 month rental.  Well maybe Texas.

The Pirates just picked up P Wandy Rodriguez from Houston in exchange for 3 minor leaguers - OF Robbie Frossman, P Rudy Owens and P Colton Cain. Houston will also be responsible for some of the $ 30 million left on Rodriguez's contract. I guess Pittsburgh is serious about playing a Playoff game this year.

Pirates avoided the sweep by beating The Cubs 3-2.

Ryan Dempster didn't appreciate getting pulled from the game and took it out on the water cooler in the dugout.

I'm sure the Nuttings are sending him a bill for that.

Dempster is now being called Ryan Cum Dumpster by certain members of the Cubs fan base for refusing that trade to the Braves.

Players do get charged for breaking things. When Jon Lieber was with the Pirates, he slammed a door in the clubhouse in Philadelphia and broke the frame. The Phillies charged him.

Marte hitting the first major league pitch he faced out of the park was quite the moment.

People are already comparing it to Mario scoring on his first shot.

If he pans out, Pittsburgh has a very needed bat.

from what I can tell he is similar to Andrew McCutcheon, so if they can catch lightning in a bottle twice that makes for one hell of an outfield.  Garrett Jones hile no one will compare to Dave Winfield is doing an ok job lately, Neil walker is having a career year,  and Pedro Alvarez is hitting homers and driving in runs so that pathetic offense that a few months ago seemed to be their downfall is looking better, now if that pitching doesn't do what it did from this time last year and stays healthy and consistent we have a chance.  I believe.

Don't get carried away. From what I've heard, Marte is expected to be a good solid ML player, but not at the level of McCutchen.

Grog, it also helps your Pirates that Aj Burnett of all people is having a great year too, i thought i saw he was 12-3, good for them if he is. Pirates look to be getting better each year.

The Pirates have been playing great baseball in the 10 days since Cinci lost Votto to injury, but the Reds haven't lost a step: winning nine of 10 games in that stretch. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to turn their division rivals' misfortune into Pirate fortune, but so far that hasn't happened.
