LOS ANGELES - The woman accusing NBA star Derrick Rose and two of his friends of rape is testifying in the trial of her $21.5-million civil lawsuit.

The woman told jurors in Los Angeles federal court Thursday that she had wanted to remain anonymous because she didn't want her family to know about it.

As she was testifying, Rose entered the courtroom for the first time and she paused and became emotional while being questioned by her attorney about the events on a night in August 2013.

She says she went to Rose's rented Beverly Hills mansion for drinks, got very drunk and felt like she had been drugged.

She says that when she got home she vomited and passed out.

LOS ANGELES - Jurors have cleared NBA star Derrick Rose and two friends in a lawsuit that accused them of gang raping his ex-girlfriend when she was incapacitated from drugs or alcohol.
The jury reached the verdict Wednesday in Los Angeles federal court after hearing dramatically different accounts of the August 2013 sexual encounter.
Neither side denied the three men had sex with the woman, but the issue was whether she consented or was too intoxicated to do so.
Defense lawyers tarred the woman as a liar who tried to sway jurors through her tears to get at Rose's fortune. They claimed she was angry he had dumped her and she set him up and brought the lawsuit in hopes of a big payoff.
The woman's lawyer called the men ''sexual deviants'' and says they conspired to gang rape her after she was drunk and incapable of consenting to sex.
Rose says he's thankful that the jury rejected a rape lawsuit against him and two friends.
Rose says in a statement to The Associated Press that it was important to prove he did not do what he was accused of, even though he had to share private details of his personal life.

As details continue to emerge about Josh Brown's history of abuse toward his ex-wife, the way in which the NFL handled the situation is becoming increasingly concerning.

In police documents obtained by Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York, Molly Brown alleged that the NFL and some New York Giants players knew about the behavior.

Molly outlines one particular instance, during a trip to the Pro Bowl earlier this year, where the NFL got involved and had to separate Josh from her and her children.

From Vacchiano's report:

Molly alleged that she was subject to "cutting comments" from Josh on that trip, and that he took her phone and searched through her texts, according to the police report. She also alleged that one night he got drunk and pounded on her door so loudly that NFL security and hotel security were called and had to escort Josh away. She also alleged that the NFL eventually put her and her kids up in a different hotel "where Josh would not know where they were," the police report said.

Police documents also revealed Wednesday that Brown has admitted to multiple levels of spousal abuse in journal entries, letters sent to friends, and counseling exercises.

Despite a new domestic violence policy carrying an automatic six-game ban for first-time offenders, the veteran kicker was suspended just one game to start the season for his May 2015 arrest.

In justifying the penalty, the NFL stated that it had "insufficient information to prior allegations" after conducting an investigation.

Former New Jersey Devils prospect Ben Johnson has been sentenced to three years in prison for sexual assault.

On Sept. 1, Johnson was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a nightclub in Windsor, Ontario in March of 2013, when he was a member of the Ontario Hockey League's Spitfires.

Johnson's entry-level contract with the Devils was terminated shortly after the conviction. Johnson was drafted 90th overall by the Devils in 2012, and spent three seasons as a pro in the AHL and ECHL without ever reaching the NHL level.

Just four days after the Memphis Grizzlies made him one of their final cuts before the start of the regular season, D.J. Stephens was arrested in Memphis on charges of domestic aggravated assault, Yolanda Jones of the Commercial Appeal reports.

Stephens was taken into custody Wednesday night after allegedly attacking his child's mother, grabbing her by the wrists and throat, and throwing her to the ground multiple times, according to the arrest affidavit acquired by the Commercial Appeal.

The woman called 911 and was taken to hospital, where Police discovered cuts and scratches on her arms, nose, lips, and face; scrapes on her neck; and a bloody, swollen left eye.

Stephens, who drew attention for his remarkable leaping ability, was reportedly considering playing overseas rather than returning to the Grizzlies' D-League affiliate in Iowa.

The 25-year-old is now in jail on a $15,000 bond, and will be in court for an arraignment Friday.

New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia was arrested on a domestic violence charge early Monday morning, according to a complaint filed by authorities.
In the complaint, which was provided to The Record's Andrew Wyrich and Abbott Koloff on Tuesday, police said Familia caused "bodily injury to another" and noted a scratch on the chest and a bruise on the cheek of the victim.
The victim's identity was redacted in the documents.
Familia was arrested Oct. 31 and charged with simple assault after police officers responded to an apartment in Fort Lee at 2:22 a.m.
"The matter was brought to our attention and we are monitoring the situation," the Mets said in a statement to The Record.
The incident comes less than a month after Familia was featured in an anti-domestic violence campaign for #NotAFan.
Aroldis Chapman (30 games), Jose Reyes (51 games), and Hector Olivera (82 games) were all suspended under Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy throughout the year.
The 27-year-old Familia was an All-Star for the first time in 2016, amassing a 2.55 ERA, while leading baseball with 51 saves.

New York Mets reliever Jeurys Familia pleaded not guilty to a domestic violence charge at Fort Lee Municipal Court in New Jersey on Thursday morning.
Familia was arrested on Halloween and charged with simple assault after police offers responded to an apartment in the early morning. The victim, who has not been named, had a scratch on the chest, and bruise on the cheek.
During his court hearing Thursday, the judge removed a no-contact condition, allowing Familia to have contact with the victim again, according to Jim Baumbach of Newsday. The judge also told Familia and his attorney that even if the victim wishes to drop the case, prosecutors can still proceed with it.
Familia is facing a maximum penalty of six months in jail, a $1,000 fine, and two years probation, however, Baumbach acknowledges that's very unlikely. His next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15.
When speaking to reporters on Wednesday, commissioner Rob Manfred said the league is in no rush to determine possible discipline for Familia, and will wait until the court proceedings play out.
''I think that it is usually difficult for us to complete our investigation before the criminal process has run its course,'' Manfred said. ''We have the luxury of not being on the field right now, and we're going to take advantage of that.''
Three players were suspended by the league last season for violating its domestic violence policy, with bans of 82, 51, and 30 games being administered.

Derrick Rose was found not liable by a California jury last month in a civil sexual assault lawsuit brought by a former girlfriend, but now it's the New York Knickspoint guard who is demanding money.
Rose is seeking to recoup $70,000 in court costs from the woman, who originally sued him for $21.5 million over a claim the former NBA MVP and two friends gang-raped her while she was intoxicated in 2013.
Criminal charges were never filed in the case. While Rose steadfastly maintained all sexual contact was consensual, several lurid details about his relationship with the woman emerged during the trial.
Rose will earn $21.3 million from the Knicks this season.

The victim in the domestic violence case against New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia has asked for the charges to be dropped, the prosecutor told Newsday's Jim Baumbach.

Arrested Oct. 31 for causing "bodily injury to another" during an incident at a Fort Lee, N.J. apartment, according to police, Familia has pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple assault and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 15.

In a recording of a 9/11 call obtained earlier this week, Familia's wife, Bianca Rivas, told dispatchers that Familia had been drinking and was "going crazy" on the night of the incident.

"My husband had a little bit of alcohol and he's going crazy," said Rivas, whose identifying information is redacted from the audio recording.

With respect to any MLB involvement in the case, Familia will be represented by Jay Reisenger, who served a similar role for Aroldis Chapman after the Cuban left-hander was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend last offseason.

About a month ago, the 27-year-old Familia appeared in a 30-second ad on behalf of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, in which he and others encouraged "fans to take a stand against domestic violence," according to a press release.

HOUSTON - Former NBA all-star Steve Francis is charged with felony retaliation after prosecutors say he threatened to assault a police officer in the Houston area.

Court records show the 39-year-old Francis also faces a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge stemming from the Saturday incident. Online jail records show he was released on $5,500 bond. He's scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.

KHOU-TV reports Francis was pulled over in Harris County for speeding. The station says a deputy smelled alcohol and Francis was belligerent. The report says more deputies were called to the scene and Francis was arrested.

No attorney is listed for Francis in online court records.

Francis played for 11 seasons in the NBA, including seven in Houston.

Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic are expected to charge at least four Texas Rangers prospects, including the younger brother of big-league second baseman Rougned Odor - also named Rougned - after a group of players were caught sexually assaulting an underage teammate on video in a hazing incident, sources told Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan.

Police questioned a total of eight players regarding the incident, in which a player new to the club's complex in the Dominican was allegedly held down and forcefully masturbated by his teammates. The video was reportedly posted on Snapchat, while Yahoo has obtained a 10-second clip.

Yohel Pozo, one of the franchise's top catching prospects, is also expected to face charges, Passan reports.

In a statement to Yahoo Sports, the Rangers revealed they're cooperating fully after learning of the incident, which occurred in October, from an uninvolved player.

"The Texas Rangers became aware of an incident at our Academy in the Dominican Republic and we acted promptly to open an investigation," the team said. "We have reported the incident and are cooperating fully with Major League Baseball and the authorities in the Dominican Republic.

"With this being an ongoing investigation, we will have no further comment at this time."

Both Odor and Pozo are 19 years old.

Dennis Rodman was charged Monday in connection with a hit-and-run crash.

The former Chicago Bulls star caused a collision after driving the wrong way on a California freeway on July 20, according to police.

The 55-year-old has been charged with four misdemeanor counts, including damaging property in a hit-and-run, driving a car across a dividing section, providing false information to cops, and driving without a valid license.

Rodman will be arraigned on Jan. 20, 2017, and could face a maximum jail sentence of two years if convicted.

He's being accused of driving his Range Rover head-on toward a sedan, prompting the driver of the other vehicle to swerve away and crash.

Rodman's also being accused of refusing to exchange information with the sedan driver, fleeing the scene before California Highway Patrol arrived, and lying to police about the incident.

A judge in the Dominican Republic has ordered four Texas Rangers prospects accused of sexually assaulting a teammate as part of an apparent hazing ritual to enter psychological counseling, reports Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
Judge Julio Aybar Ortiz also ordered the four accused teenagers to remain in contact with the local prosecutor's office every two weeks until such time as potential charges are officially filed. In addition, the passports of all four players were revoked by the judge.
Eighteen-year-old players Guillermo Villareal and Adrian Pernalete, along with 19-year-olds Yohel Pozo and Rougned Odor - the younger brother of Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor - are being accused of allegedly restraining and forcibly masturbating a new teammate at the team's complex in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, while recording the incident on video.
The alleged victim, at 16 years old, was underage.
The four face potential criminal charges over the alleged incident, including charges of sexual assault and delinquency, assault, and abuse, according to Passan.
Charges have yet to be filed.
Report: Odor's brother to be charged for sexual assault of Rangers prospect
MLB has placed the four accused players on administrative leave. Four other Rangers prospects who were interviewed by police will not be charged, according to Passan.
The Rangers declined to comment on the incident in a statement to Yahoo Sports on Monday, citing the fact that the investigation is currently ongoing.
