Former NBA player and head coach Derek Fisher was arrested on suspicion of DUI early on Sunday morning after an accident that resulted in his vehicle being overturned, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Former Basketball Wives reality star Gloria Govan was in the vehicle with Fisher, though both were uninjured.

According to the Daily News report, Fisher veered into the paved right shoulder before hitting a raised concrete curb and a guardrail. That caused the vehicle to flip onto its back and block two lanes on the northbound 101 Freeway in California.

Fisher and Govan—who was previously married to NBA player Matt Barnes, Fisher's former teammate on the Los Angeles Lakers—have reportedly been dating since Oct. 2015.

Fisher, 42, played for 18 seasons in the NBA, winning five titles with the Lakers. He also had stints with the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks.

He also was the head coach of the New York Knicks between 2014-16, going 40-96 before being fired in his second season.

As Oregon State squares off against Vanderbilt in the NCAA Super Regionals this weekend to determine which team will advance to the College World Series, it will do so without its best pitcher.

Luke Heimlich, who was identified as a sex offender by The Oregonian's Danny Moran and Brad Schmidt on Thursday after discovering he pleaded guilty to sexually molesting a 6-year-old female family member in the state of Washington when he was 15, has asked to be excused from the team after his criminal history and status as a sex offender emerged this week.

"I have taken responsibility for my conduct when I was a teenager. As a 16-year-old, I was placed on juvenile court probation and ordered to participate in an individual counseling program," Heimlich said in a statement through his attorney, according to Moran. "I'm grateful for the counseling I received, and since then, I realized that the only way forward was to work each day on becoming the best person, community member and student I can possibly be. I understand that many people now see me differently, but I hope that I can eventually be judged for the person I am today.

"I'm so proud of our team's accomplishment and don't want to be a distraction. Therefore, I've respectfully requested to be excused from playing at this time."

The 21-year-old junior was Oregon State's top starter in 2017. In 16 starts this season, Heimlich went 11-1 and posted a 0.76 ERA - the best such mark in the nation.

2nd year Bills defensive lineman Adolphus Washington was arrested for improperly concealing a firearm outside of a water park. He sucked as a 3rd round rookie last year and was already just considered depth.

The lawyer for Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman released a statement Sunday denying that his client was guilty of a crime after Foreman's arrest on drug and weapon charges.
Jail records show Foreman was arrested early Sunday by University of Texas police and charged with marijuana possession of two ounces or less and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Foreman's lawyer acknowledged the arrest, but said the gun Foreman was carrying was legally obtained and stored inside Foreman's vehicle, and that the marijuana in the vehicle was in the possession of a passenger and not Foreman.
The full statement is below:

The Texans also issued a statement, saying they are aware of the situation and are gathering information.

Former New York Yankees slugger Danny Tartabull has been arrested after spending five years as a fugitive following a 2011 deadbeat dad conviction, reports TMZ.

The 54-year-old was caught in the strangest way, too, calling police on July 24 to report that his car had been broken into.

When police arrived at Tartabull's apartment in Agoura, Calif., they immediately arrested him and took him to a nearby station, where he's been locked up since.

Tartabull, who was once MLB's highest paid player, was ordered to surrender and serve 180 days in jail after violating his probation in 2012.

He owes more than $275,000 in unpaid child support payments.

Tartabull made close to $33 million during his 14-year career spent mostly with the Kansas City Royals and Yankees.

The absence of former Boston Red Sox utility man Steve Lyons from NESN broadcasts in recent weeks is due to a domestic battery charge against him stemming from a January incident at his California home, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Lyons, who began serving as a Red Sox analyst on NESN in 2014, is set to go to trial for domestic battery assault in September if attempts to have the charges dismissed are unsuccessful.

Though specifics were not available in a redacted report filed by the Hermosa Beach police, the officer who arrested Lyons at his house Jan. 14 noted that Lyons' girlfriend suffered injuries to her face in an incident that, according to a friend of Lyons' girlfriend, started with verbal sparring and escalated into something physical that she herself did not witness.

Richard Hutton, Lyons' attorney, said the 57-year-old "never laid a hand" on his girlfriend.

"His girlfriend, Stacey, told authorities within 36 hours of the incident that he had never struck her or touched her in an offensive way," Hutton said. "And we expect him to be vindicated either prior to trial or if it goes to a jury trial."

Details surrounding the arrest of Kansas City Royals left-hander Danny Duffy on suspicion of driving under the influence have yet to be confirmed, but a report indicates the 28-year-old was booked after trying - and failing - to grab some fast food Sunday evening.

According to an employee at the Burger King at 135th Street and Metcalf Avenue, about a 25- to 30-minute drive from Kauffman Stadium, Duffy was found passed out in the drive-through line after failing to pull up to the pick-up window to collect his food, Kevin Kietzman of 810 WHB reports. Another restaurant worker then reached into Duffy's car to put it into park before calling police to wake the pitcher. Police sirens in the distance apparently woke Duffy, who then tried to move into the passenger seat of his car. It was reported that Duffy had asked at least one driver in line behind him to jump into his car's driver seat to save him. Shortly thereafter, Overland Park police arrived and arrested Duffy.

Duffy is expected to make a statement about his arrest in a press conference Tuesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium, where he'll be joined by Royals general manager Dayton Moore.

"We are obviously disappointed in the news we have received regarding Danny Duffy's DUI arrest on Sunday night," Moore said in an earlier statement Tuesday morning after news of Duffy's arrest broke. "Danny was not part of the team traveling back from Cleveland on Sunday because he had returned to Kansas City a day earlier to undergo an MRI examination. We are still in the early stages of gathering the details, but I know that Danny has always been accountable as a member of this organization and we expect the same accountability from him as this process moves forward. We obviously do not condone anyone driving while under the influence, but this is now a legal matter and we will allow the process to unfold and cannot comment any further."

Duffy, now in the first season of a five-year, $65-million extension, is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 19.

Tennis star Maria Sharapova is being investigated by police for her potential involvement in a housing fraud case in India.

According to Muneeza Naqvi of the Associated Press, Sharapova's name was attached to a housing project called "Ballet by Maria Sharapova" run by real estate firm Homestead Infrastructure.

The firm allegedly took millions of dollars from buyers after Sharapova helped launch the project in 2013, but it failed to progress.

"Ballet by Maria Sharapova" was reportedly supposed to be a luxury apartment complex in Gurgaon, India.

Attorney Piyush Singh said his client, Bhawana Agarwal, paid $81,678 toward the project in 2013 due largely to Sharapova's involvement.

Homestead Infrastructure allegedly stopped taking Agarwal's calls and didn't provide updates on the project, which was never completed

In addition to her on-court endeavors, Sharapova is a successful businesswoman who earned a total of $21.9 million in 2016.

According to Forbes, that made her the second-richest female athlete in the world behind only tennis rival Serena Williams.

The 30-year-old native of Russia served a 15-month suspension after testing positive for meldonium and made her return to tennis in April.

Sharapova is a five-time Grand Slam champion who made it to the fourth round of the 2017 U.S. Open, which was her first Grand Slam tournament after serving the suspension.
