NL

wildcard game Cards (88-74) at Braves (94-68)   1 game playoff

Cincinnati Reds (97-65) vs San Fransisco Giants (94-68)

Washington Nationals (98-64) vs Cards/Braves winner

AL

wildcard game  Baltimore Orioles (93-69) at Texas Rangers (93-69)  1 game playoff

Detroit Tigers (88-74) vs Oakland A's (94-68)

New York Yankees (95-67) vs Orioles/Rangers winner

____________________________________________________________________

My predictions (thus probably dooming whom I pick, since my predictions allways go south in a hurry)

Braves defeat Cards  (better pitching)

Reds defeat Giants    (better team overall)

Nats defeat Braves    (Chippers last stand will not be enough)

Orioles defeat rangers   (Rangers reeling, big time)

A's defeat Tigers  (A's are red hot, Tigers have triple crown champ)

Orioles defeat Yankee's  (one can hope, and I hate the Yankees)

I'm not yet going to pick NLCS and ALCS champs as who knows who will even be there yet, anything can happen in baseball, but I have to say this much:

GO REDS!!!!

Not even gonna try.  A weeks ago, I would've said the Rangers had the best chance of taking it all.  Clearly that all changed.  It's wide open, should be fun.

I am going with the Giants all the way due to their pitching and surprising hitting.
I think the third seed in the first round of the playoffs have the advantage. They play the first two at home. If they win the first two they only have to win one of three to advance. The second seed may only get to play one game at home even tho they had the better record.
