Does Loria do this every 4 years? I would hate being a Marlin fan.

What dirt does he have on Selig?

EDIT:  You know he is a fuckwit when it comes to running the team when even a new stadium doesn't even boost attendance much higher then the previous years, when usually teams wit new stadiums have a year to get as much money as possible in a  new stadium

They are saying that all the players will be announced shortly.

Bueherle, Reyes, Buck, Johnson all going to Toronto. Just disband The Marlins already.

Toronto also gets OF Emilio Bonifaco.

To Miami: P Henderson Alvarez, SS Adeiny Hechavarria, P Justin Nicolino, and SS Yunel escobar.

Wow.

CBS Sports is reporting that Miami is also getting C Jeff Mathis, minor league OF Jake Marisnick and minor league P Anthony DeScalfani in the deal.

Boston just signed C David Ross ( hit. 256 with 9 HR and 23 RBI last year with Atlanta ) to a 2 year deal for $ 6.2 million. That seems a bit high for a backup Catcher so maybe the Sox will now try to move last year's starting Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Ross is an excellent catcher and I'd take him over Salty any day.

So barring any injury problems the big trade will be made official on Wednesday.

to Toronto - SS Jose Reyes, P Mark Buehrle, P Josh Johnson, C John Buck and INF Emilio Bonifacio

to Miami - SS Yunel Escobar, P Henderson Alvarez, INF Adeiny Hechavarria, C Jeff Mathis and 3 minor leaguers - P Justin Nicolino, OF Jake Marisnick and P Anthony DeSclafani

In last week's Baseball America Rankings Marisnick was ranked as the # 2 Blue Jays prospect, Nicolino was ranked as the # 5 prospect and Hechavarria was ranked # 8.

So I"m guessing this is the Jays lineup for next year

C - Arencibia
1b/DH - Encarnacion/Lind
2b - Izturis
SS - Reyes
3b - Lawrie
RF - Bautista
CF - Rasmus
LF - Gose/Sierra

Starters

Romero, Morrow, Buehrle, Johnson and maybe Drabek.

Looks better than last years lineup

It would be fitting if everything went full circle and the Marlins moved to Montreal.

Before this trade Toronto was rumoured to be shopping Arencibia trying to get a starting Pitcher. Since they just added 2 starters that may have changed their plan.

I just read that all MLB teams are going to be getting atleast $25 million more starting in 2014 from the new MLB TV deal, and I wonder how much of that $25 million will be going to actual payroll on the Marlins, which is not that far below what they typically had for salary the past decade.

It is beyond time for Selig and MLB to take over the Marlins and force Loria to sell and get an actual owner for that team who cares about winning.  I feel bad for the people who live in that area of the stadium who are getting ripped off with higher taxes to fund that stadium that the team keeps revenue on yet doesn't attempt to even put a winning team on the field year in and year out.

Send him to Toronto. They can send down the ghost of Adam Lind in return.

Boneface might end up in LF, either exclusively or in a platoon with Rajai Davis.
Gose & Sierra need more AAA seasoning.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a one-year, $850,000 contract with third baseman Kevin Frandsen.

The Phillies announced the move on Tuesday. Frandsen had been eligible for salary arbitration.

Frandsen hit .338 with 10 doubles, 14 RBI and a .383 on-base percentage in 55 games last season. He also hit .302 in 99 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Frandsen is a .267 career hitter in 283 games with San Francisco and the Los Angeles Angels.

Left-hander Antonio Bastardo and outfielder Nate Schierholtz are the Phillies' remaining arbitration-eligible players.
