http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000124965/article/pro-football-hall-of-fame-names-15-modernera-finalists

The 15 modern-era finalists were chosen by the Hall's Selection Committee from a list of 127 nominees that earlier was reduced to a list of 27 semifinalists. Former Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Oilers defensive tackle Curley Culp and former Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins linebacker Dave Robinson were selected as senior candidates by the Hall of Fame's Seniors Committee. The Seniors Committee reviews the qualifications of those players whose careers took place more than 25 years ago.

To be elected, a finalist must receive a minimum positive vote of 80 percent.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committees 17 finalists for 2013:

Larry Allen (G/T)
Jerome Bettis (RB)
Tim Brown (WR)
Cris Carter (WR)
Curley Culp (DT/G)
Edward DeBartolo Jr. (owner)
Kevin Greene (LB)
Charles Haley (DE)
Art Modell (owner)
Jonathan Ogden (OT)
Bill Parcells (coach)
Andre Reed (WR)
Dave Robinson (LB)
Warren Sapp (DT)
Will Shields (G)
Michael Strahan (DE)
Aeneas Williams (CB)

I always thought Curley Culp deserved to go in but was overshadowed by players from better teams.  I would like to see him get in.

I am not a big Kevin Greene fan.  I think he is overrated.

My votes: Haley, Ogden, Sapp, Shields, Strahan. I'd vote for Allen and Bettis later.

Is this Strahan's first time up?  Damn, it does not seem like he has been retired that long.

I'm waiting for Stingmark to return to tell me once again how Will Shields didn't have good stats.

Carter should get in. Overdue. Ogden and Parcells would be my other picks, I didn't see much of Curley Culp.

Maybe the question we should ask is what nominees don't deserve to get in eventually?

I don't know the specifics of all the lineman listed, but Reed for instance, doesn't make many people's list though he was a great receiver for the Bills when they were a dominant team.  Reggie Wayne just passed him in all time receptions in tenth place with 958.  Reed had 951 lifetime receptions, 87 TDs.  Not too shabby

Ray Lewis. The way he is shunning his legal issues now, shows he has not learned a thing.

This is your Class of 2013

Larry Allen
Jonathon Ogden
Warren Sapp
Bill Parcells
Cris Carter (Finally!)
Curley Culp (Glad he made it!)
Dave Robsinson

All deserve to be in, but I would have made Sapp wait a few years.

Haley should have been in before Sapp.

A solid class. A little surprised by Sapp. Thought he might be punished for a few more years. Long overdue for Carter who was definitely punished for some of his problems early on.
