You'll be even sadder when they don't get the # 1 pick in the next draft.

Not really, maybe we can fluke a good D-Man in the top ten, sure Seth Jones would be great, but I don't see us finishing 30th.

That's what I meant - your team is not likely to make the Playoffs but they are too good to get a top 3 pick in the next draft. I absolutely hate it when the teams I cheer for are in the middle of the pack - not quite good enough to win the Championship but not bad enough to get one of the top picks in the draft. My way of thinking is be one of the teams that could win it all or totally suck for a few years and build a winner with some high draft picks.

The streak continues for the Hawks as Corey Crawford returned to shut out Columbus 1-0. Hawks now 15-0-3.

Edmonton will fuck them up tomorrow night. Edmonton has had their number for a while now...weird shit happens when the Hawks play them.

I'll call a Yakupov hat trick, his first NHL one ever, in a 5-3 Edmonton win.

Philly picks up Gagne from the Kings.

from tsn.ca:

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired forward Simon Gagne from the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday for a conditional fourth round pick in 2013.

This will be Gagne's second stint with the Flyers. He last played in Philadelphia during the 2009-10 season before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning ahead of the 2010-11 season.

Gagne has been with the Kings the past two seasons, playing in just 45 games and recording seven goals and 15 games. Gagne appeared in four games in the Kings post-season run that led to them winning the Stanley Cup.

In 772 career NHL games, Gagne has 283 goals and 586 points. Along with his Stanley Cup win last season, the two-time NHL All-Star also has an Olympic Gold Medal from 2002.

Another trade today involving Montreal and Dallas.

from tsn.ca:

he Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Erik Cole to the Dallas Stars in exchange for forward Michael Ryder and a third-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The trade returns Ryder to the organization that drafted him in the eighth round (216th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Canadiens netminder Carey Price tweeted out to his former teammate shortly after hearing the news.

"Salut Erik. Gonna miss ya brother," Price wrote.

The 32-year-old Ryder spent the past two seasons with the Stars, regestering 41 goals and 35 assists with a plus- 21 rating through 101 games.

Prior to joining the Stars, the native of Bonavista, Newfoundland, spent three seasons with the Boston Bruins.

Cole, 34, has played for the Canadiens the past two seasons and posted 38 goals and 29 assists with a plus- 12 rating through 101 games. Prior to his time in Montreal, the Oswego, New York, native played for the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers.

Cole was drafted by the Hurricanes in the third round (71st overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

"Erik Cole is a top-six, power forward who skates well, adds size, and is under contract for the next two years," said Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "We thank Michael Ryder for his contributions and look forward to what Erik will bring to our group."

Cole has two years remanding on his current contract with a $4.5 million cap hit, while Ryder is in the last year of his deal with a $3.5 million cap hit.

4 straight losses and the team sinking, it's time to fire Tortorella. Maybe the Blueshirts can go on an LA-type run like the Kings did last year when they hired Sutter.

Torts is good for maybe 3 years but he's overextended that and he's very much like Buck Showalter-a total hardass who wears out his welcome. It's happened already.
