The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded David Steckel to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for right-winger Ryan Lasch and the Ducks' seventh-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

"Adding David Steckel gives us another big body and depth up the middle," said Ducks general manager Bob Murray. "He comes highly recommended from Bruce (Boudreau). Faceoffs have been something of a concern for us the last few seasons. Steckel is a tremendous faceoff man and penalty killer, something that will really help our club."

The 26-year-old Lasch will be assigned to the Toronto Marlies.

Lasch, currently playing in the Swedish Elite League with the Vaxjo Lakers, was a free agent signing of the Ducks on May 31, 2012. He represented Team USA at the 2012 IIHF World Championship and collected two assists in seven games. Last season, he captured the Finnish Elite League scoring title by recording 24 goals and 38 assists.

Steckel had one assist in 13 games played with Toronto this season. He joined the Maple Leafs in a trade with New Jersey on October 4, 2011.

John Tortorella is an immature, self-serving douchebag who needs to be fired immediately. It doesn't help us Ranger fans that his GM is a moron.

I'm actually hoping they get blown out so badly today against Pitt that he has a career-killing meltdown. I have not wanted a coach of a team I liked fired as much as this guy and Rich Rodriguez of Michigan. Okay, and Ray Handley!

And the Rangers play another uninspiring game with the chief buffoon at the helm.

How do you think Dallas fans felt paying to see this game ???? At one point Chicago had scored as many Goals ( 5 ) as Dallas had Shots on Goal.

There were probably only about 20 Dallas fans there, so fuck them. The rest seemed to be Hawks fans judging by the Hawks chants and number of hawks jerseys I saw.

What was funny is the Pens did trounce them (3-0, and it wasn't as close as it seems, King Henrik was the only Ranger who showed up) Torts was asked about it in the post game interview and he was all "we don't talk about the other team". I guess especially not after they took you to the woodshed all day.

What's your take on how he is handling the team?

It seems like he's losing the team, it seemed like they were maybe 1/4 speed in the game. The Pens radio announcers mentioned a couple times in the third period it looked like the Rangers had no fight and were just going thru the motions.

Anaheim just signed RW Corey Perry to an 8 year extension worth $ 69 million. With the recent signing of Perry and Getzlaf Anaheim will most likely be trading Bobby Ryan. Since Anaheim is currently one of the better teams in the NHL Ryan will probably be traded during the summer.

Hawks 1 Ducks 1 after 1st period. Ducks scored very early in the game. Toews quickly countered with a shorthanded goal.
