So, "something like that" was correct then. :)

Hawks grabbed G Henrik karlsson from Calgary for a 7th. If Emery continues to shit the bed on a regular basis, there's your new backup. He'll go to the AHL for now.

Philly's Brayden Schenn suspended 1 game for hit on New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov.

from tsn.ca:

Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn has been suspended one game for his hit on defenceman Anton Volchenkov during Tuesday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

During the second period of the Devils' 3-0 victory over the Flyers, Schenn appeared to leave his feet while delivering a bodycheck to Volchenkov.

Schenn, who did not receive a penalty on the play, will miss Thursday's home game against the New York Rangers and will be eligible to return for Saturday's game against the Panthers in Florida.

Schenn met with vice president of player safety Brendan Shanahan earlier on Wednesday to discuss the incident.

The 21-year-old forward has played in all three of the Flyers games this season and has one assist and five penalty minutes.

----------------------------------------------------
Here's the hit - decide for yourself.

I think 1 game was fair. I wonder if the hit was Schenn's payback for this Volchenkov hit from last year's Playoffs.

It could only happen to the Leafs. (the curse of Harold ?)
On Monday the Leafs proudly announce they had extended the contract of injury
prone Loop Hole (5 years, $26.5 mil).
Last night he suffers a broken arm after being hit by a slap shot by a team-mate.

Hawks now 4-0 after beating Dallas 3-2 on an OT goal by Marian Hossa. Crawford did not look sharp. Kari Lehtonen was tremendous in goal for Dallas.

Crawford notwithstanding (early, he was better later), the Hawks could have won that game 9-2 if not for Lehtonen.

The Rangers have reportedly signed Jason Arnott pending a physical.  He's 38, but not a bad signing.  He's a gritty goal scorer and someone that is willing to stand in front of the net on power plays, which is what they need.  Their center play has been abysmal to start the year, and this can't hurt.  He'll proably be the 4th line center anyway.

Looks like the deal is on hold.

from tsn.ca:

A deal that would have seen unrestricted free agent forward Jason Arnott sign with the New York Rangers was not finialized.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com Arnott wasn't cleared by Rangers' doctors.

Arnott and the Rangers had agreed to a one-year deal worth somewhere between $1.6-$1.7 million on Saturday and Arnott headed to New York for his physical, which he ultimately did not pass.

Arnott had 17 goals and 17 assists with the St. Louis Blues last season. In 1,244 career regular-season games, Arnott has 417 goals and 938 points. In 122 postseason games, he has 32 goals and 73 points and won a Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils in 2000.

The 38-year-old had been skating during the lockout near his Dallas-area home.

Did not deserve to win that game at all. Nice that they gutted it out, something every team will have to do many times this year due to the packed schedule.

Pens got a nice shootout win against Ottawa, both goalies were standing on their heads all night.

I love it when games go to a shootout now, Malkin used to suck badly at them and now he's all but automatic on them. Also a lineup of Letang, Malkin, Crosby, and Neal is usually going to do some damage.

My only fear is that none of the defense prospects of the last few years seem to be stepping up. I know it takes a while for a guy to become a solid NHL level defenseman, but these guys haven't shown much of anything and the team ends up overpaying for free agents that wash out. I think part of the reason Staal got traded is to open up the checkbook for Letang, since they have nothing if he leaves.

Minnesota finally beats the Hawks in a shoot out. Hawks still get a point because it was a shoot out loss. Very good team Minnesota although I can muster the hate for them that I once had for The North Stars.

Rangers looking for more offense. I have some advice: take Carl Hagelin out of your lineup! In addition to taking many stupid interference penalties he has hands of stone. I have a better shot.

Vancouver beat The Hawks in a shoot out last night. Hawks still got a point. Bobby Lu played great for the Canucks.
