I just posted something about Oddibe McDowell on another thread and it got me thinking about classic Chris Berman names for MLB players.  He named him Oddibe "Young Again" McDowell.   I considered that one to be pretty good.

Chris "Boom" Berman was unique and refreshing during the 80's unlike today, when you would rather chew on some tin foil then listen to his useless ramblings.

I will keep the timeframe limited from the 80's to early 90's, because after that Berman's novelty act was disappearing.

I do remember that before the "back...back..back..back" homerun call, Berman would just yell, "Boom!" for each homerun hit.

Okay, here are some names that I remember from Berman..

Jose "Can you see" Cruz

Julio "Won't you take me on a sea" Cruz

Bert "Be home" Blyleven

Bruce "Eggs" Benedict

Jim "Two silhouettes on" Deshaeis (sp)

Screw that big-mouthed asshat.  He's ruined more than one home run derby for me.

Yeah.  Plus he killed Tom Mees, who never did anything bad to anyone.

I think the count had his name way before Berman.  I remember that being applied to him back in the 70's.

Wasn't he one of the first 'home-grown' on-air personalities that ESPN hired?
