|Can the Bungels really ask why they cannot make it to the next level? This is just a ridiculous move. They claim that they want to change their image and way of thinking as a team, and then they do something like this.
Bengals bring back WR Chris Henry
Published: Tuesday, August 19, 2008
With their receiving corps in disarray, the Cincinnati Bengals rolled the dice and brought back a familiar face.
The Bengals officially signed Chris Henry on Tuesday, bringing the talented but troubled wide receiver back to Cincinnati.
It is a risky move by the Bengals, who released Henry on April 3 following his fifth arrest since 2005. Although the charges against Henry were dropped in the April incident, he was suspended for four games by Commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
Henry is eligible to participate in training camp and preseason games. He could get plenty of playing time because starting receivers Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh both currently are injured and could be sidelined until the regular-season opener.
Johnson suffered a sprained shoulder in Sunday's exhibition game against the Detroit Lions and Houshmandzadeh has been slowed by a hamstring injury.
Goodell also suspended Henry for the first eight games of the 2007 season for repeated violations of the league's code of conduct.and two games in 2006 for violating the league's substance abuse and conduct policies.
When the 25-year-old Henry stays on the field, he has been productive. In 35 games over three seasons, Henry has 88 receptions for a 15.6-yard average and 17 touchdowns.
