Does anybody think they'll be any good in our lifetime?  I have been watching them botch things since the Patrick Ewing trade and it just seems to get worse every year.  Bill Simmons was on the radio yesterday and said that since the turn of the Century, the Seattle Supersonics have more playoff wins than the Knicks, and they disbanded ten years ago.

I think Phil Jackson's legacy takes a hit here because his reign as head of the Knicks echoes that of Eric Bischoff's running TNA...just a cash grab, nothing else.

The NBA is a league in which a team can turn around quickly if it gets a superstar. From 1994-95 through 2011-12 the Golden State Warriors made the playoffs just one time. The Warriors also had just two winning records in that span, one of which was a 42-40 season. They were considered a basketcase team. The idea after that 2011-12 season that they'd be NBA champs in 2014-15 and runners up in 2015-16 with a chance at another title in 2016-17 was absurd. Yet here we are. That doesn't mean the Knicks will get it turned around, but it absolutely means it is possible.

Phil Jackson is no GM. He's a great coach and he deserves credit for that. My knock on him has always been that he got a Bulls team that already had Jordan and Pippen and got a Lakers team that Shaq and Kobe the first time around and still had Kobe after his sabbatical, so he never had to use the triangle with bad teams and his minions who have (Cleamons, Rambis, Fisher) have all failed miserably. However, who can blame the guy for wanting good situations and players. He should pack it in with the Knicks though. His heart isn't in it and he's not up to the spot.

Maybe in another 20 years they will be good  ;)

I really believe that in many cases these sports franchises are like a old-timey watch.
Someone takes the back plating off and starts tinkering w the mechanisms inside and it's the never the same again until someone replaces the whole thing.

Its only been 5 years since they last won their division but I can't see the over rated Phil Jackson doing anything to turn it around.

From someone who has been a fan 30+ years, they are dysfunctional from the top down.

Dolan is as inept as they come. Either he puts his hand into mix and fucks things up, or he appoints the wrong people to fuck things up.

This franchise spiraled downward when the traded Patrick Ewing for Luc Longley's terrible contract. Then Scott Layden got to fuck things up. They signed Shanden Andersen and Howard Eisley to awful deals. They signed Stephon Marbury to a terrible deal.

Then Isaiah got to fuck things up by signing Eddy Curry and Z-Bo to massive contract to play the same position, trading away every draft pick for 10 years, to the point where the NBA had to institute a rule where you can't trade your 1st rd pick 3 years in a row.

After Donnie Walsh was got them out of salary cap hell, they rewarded him by cutting his balls off and sending him back to Indiana.

Now we have GM/Twitter extraordinaire Phil Jackson in there to further fuck up the franchise.

How we still have a fan base is beyond me.
