We're past the mid point of the season & we have a good idea where our favourite team will finish in the standings. Any thoughts/rants ?  Do you want your team to buy or sell at the trade deadline ?
What are your surprises, positive or negative ?

I want the Yankees to buy only if a deal makes sense, and it likely won't.  Absolute NO prospects get traded for short-term pitching help.  That would be stupid.  I'd rather not make the postseason this year and keep all my prospects.  This team is better than expected quicker than expected, but not there yet anyway.  I'm still looking at 2019 (and beyond) as the target year.  I'm fine with them standing pat, or making smaller moves.

It will never happen, but I also think this is an excellent time to "sell high" and unload Gardner and/or Ellsbury for pitching since they're having good seasons and the Yankees are stacked with outfield options, but that's a pipe dream.

I want the Phillies to completely roll over to the point there is a true house-cleaning, get rid of the manager, get rid of the pitching coach, bring the guys up from the farm system and see what the hell you have vs not knowing.

The Blue Jays have been a huge disappointment this year. I expected a bit of a slide but injuries and general suckage has seen them fall out way earlier than I thought they would.

Starting 1-9 didn't help of course.

They'd have to get better just to be a huge dissapointment.

They suck ass.

Worst constructed lineup top to bottom in the league.

The only guy who can even run a little(Pillar) is at the bottom og the lineup.

They have all these slow ass turds at the top and most of the way thru the lineup so unless they hit homeruns they can't drive anyone in.  And they are all just trying to hit homeruns, instead of trying to play fundamental baseball.

No way that 2 years in a row their starting pitching was going to gon unscathed.

After losing 19-1 they should just fold and then remame themselves the Montreal Expos and sell off everything.y

I want the Tigers to go on a full-scale rebuild, but with the hefty contracts to deal, it seems unlikely.

I figure they will make only a few moves, mostly stand pat and gradually decline each year before some of the bigger contracts can come off the books. I liken them to the Phillies, big contracts that can't be moved.

There's talk that dealing Fulmer will generate a good return, but I am thinking that the team needs at least a shot next year to win once every five games out, and Fulmer gives us that.

The Twins lost 100 plus games last season and I assumed they'd lose that many this year. Instead they're in the AL Central race. Besides Miguel Sano breaking out, the pitching staff is now largely at a major league level. They may not have the fuel to make a second half run, but should end up with a respectable record and a reason for future optimism, something that seemed impossible a year ago at this time.

Giants need to clean house. Except for Bumgarner and Posey everyone can go. From last year's All star break to this year their record is 64 -98.

Surprise team for me are the Astros,I thought they were good but not this good, yankees are one or two years ahead of schedule, Brewers getting Travis Shaw and developing a pretty good pitching staff.

Rangers have a horrible bullpen, no true closer and most blown saves in MLB. Never really got into baseball this year.

The Reds still suck ass, I have been a Reds fan all of my life since I am from Ohio but it seems as if the people that run the team don't even give a rats ass as they kepp getting rid of anybody other than Joey Votto who shows any signs of being good.

I am thinking of, for the first time in my life, changing my lifelong fandom to another team (this includes all major sports), that team being the Cleveland Indians, who at least are decent and actually give a rats ass about the team and the fans.

This is it, trading day. I wish the Jays would clean house & get rid of everyone on the 25 man roster except Ozuna & Strohman. Even I didn't think they'd be this bad.

They've been bit by injuries more than any team this year.  It's a lost season.  They should eat most of Bautista's salary and try to get absolutely anything in the way of prospects back for him.  You would think some team would rent him for 2 months in exchange for mid-level prospects.

Tigers have made 2 trades and now have this abundance of AA infielders....who knows if they'll make any more trades today.

The Brewers got my hopes up despite my better judgment, and are now flaming out as expected.

Well, all teams have inuries. Last season the pitching staff was incredibly healthy. It was unrealistic to think that the pitchers would have another injury free seaon again. Also, the Jays were the oldest team in the league last year. Everyone is a year older & susceptible to injuries & decline. The Jays were desperate for outfielders & re-signed Bautista. There was a time when he was the face of the team. Now he is the heel.
