Story courtesy of Fox

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - NFL officials are investigating whether Green Bay Packers players have offered payments to teammates for achieving specific defensive goals.

National Football League spokesman Greg Aiello said Monday that Packers defensive backs offered to pay the team's defensive linemen $500 each if they were able to hold Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson under 100 yards rushing two weeks ago and hold Carolina to under 60 yards rushing Sunday.

Peterson was held to 45 yards rushing before he left the Vikings' game with an injury. The Panthers rushed for 131 yards in Sunday's loss to Green Bay.
"Clubs and players are prohibited from offering or accepting bonuses to a player for his or his team's performance against a particular team, a particular opposing player or players," Aiello said.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that he's not aware of the situation, but hadn't yet talked to general manager Ted Thompson.

I thought this would be about players offering money to injure people.  This isn't a story.

Sure it is Srossi, I picked it up off of the Fox NEWS website.

It's a little lame in that there is no "$10,000 if You retire Tony Romo" twist to it ala Jerry Lawler/Ric Flair/Jimmy Hart but it is a violation of league rules.

This "story" is just another example of the pussification of sports.

Okay here is how the work was worked.

You see (talking carney here) if you keep the star running back from getting 100 yards or less, we all get a bonus.

However if we knock the star running back out of the game to the point that he still couldn't play the next time we met them, we were all offered bounty in addition to the bonus.
