Incredibly close, but Jimmy Rollins got the NL MVP by 17 points over Matt Holliday.  I'm a diehard Phillies fan and thought Rollins deserved it, but even I'm a little surprised, as Holliday did have better overall numbers and a lot of press at the end of the season.  Nice to see Rollins get the respect he deserves and the Phillies get back to back MVPs.

Do you think one player playing in Philly vs the other playing in Colorado could have played into it?

Holliday would have got it but for his "oops, I gots tagged out" moment in the WS. What was he thinking?

It was Paps' first career pick off, too!

The voting takes place before the playoffs.

I think the voting was done before the Ws though. Right?

I thought votes took post-season into account, that's why they came out so late. I could be wrong, though.

The votes were due the Weds. after the Col/SD 1 game playoff, if I remember correctly.  With Holliday scoring the game winning run in that game and having a good preformance, I thought that might influence the voters.

I played Clawmaster (who owned Rollins) for a full month this past season (OSW Baseball) and I can state that I became a huge fan of Rollins.  The guy absolutely destroyed me.

No one, with the exception of Rickey Henderson, has ever put up the type of numbers that J Roll did from the lead off spot.  He is also a great shortstop.  Despite what that idiot on the radio Howard Eskin thinks, J Roll deserved the MVP.  Eskin tried to make the case tonight that Pat Burell! was more valuable to the Phils than J Roll.

I guess J Roll won't allow Eskin to be his lackey.
