Reports are that Mark Davis is going to relieve Jack Del Rio of his coaching duties shortly, and give the coaching duties and part ownership to Jon Gruden.  And supposedly Gruden is fine working with Reggie McKenzie because he respects his assessment of talent.  He worked well with Bruce Allen, and he’s a douchebag, but I still don’t know how this will work.  After 10 years away, can Gruden go back to working 19-20 hour days?  I know his son is grown now so he only has to deal with his wife on it.

Dumbasses. Del Rio isn't the problem.

I like Gruden on MNF, but beyond that not sure how someone could give up such a cushy gig to go back to the grind and stress of coaching. He's probably making decent coin with ESPN. Why bother?

Why bother?$10m annual salary plus ownership beats ESPN.  I’d almost think Disney would sell you ESPN for $10m.

Del Rio got the ax after the game. What if Gruden does not join the Raiders? Does he wanna coach in Vegas? Raiders get another re-tread coach?

Del Rio is a horrible coach.

Give him time and he will run a team into the ground.

Rumor is that the NFL may not allow them to grant Gruden partial ownership because he won't be able to prove financial means to support an NFL team. Maybe a profit share of some sort, but not partial ownership. Of course this is just coming from some legal expert who knows if he knows his ass from a hole in the ground.

The Raiders want a good team with a flashy coach to make a splash in Las Vegas. The problem is the new stadium there won't be ready until 2020 at best and maybe not until 2021. The team doesn't want to play at Sam Boyd Stadium which is used by the Las Vegas Bowl and UNLV football, so it plans to remain in Oakland until the team's new home is ready. By then Gruden might be gone or damaged goods. He's still youthful, but this is a long time to be gone from coaching and then successfully come back. I'm not high on it working out.

Kinda dumb they extended Del Rio for 3 yrs at beginning of the season and now they have to pay him not to coach. Gruden might not be the answer for this team. He should ramp up the intensity on the team but he was only 2 games over .500 after he won the superbowl. But DelRio wasn't the answer.

As long as they keep fucking up, this bodes well for the Chiefs winning the division again next year.
