It feels like he has 'just been holding on' for years and years already

I told this to you all.

Browns love Lewis as a “cheap” option.

Marvin Lewis is better than their rumored Plan B of trading for Hue Jackson. But the owner of the Browns likes going 1-31 so he's keeping Hue.

Not all Hue Jackson's fault. That roster is terrible.

The Chiefs will take Josh Gordon off the Browns hands for a 7th round pick

A lot of it his fault. At least for having that bad of a record. The Jets arguably had the worst roster in the league headed in, using a 37 year old QB who had just bombed in Cleveland. Yet the Jets figured out a way to win 5 games and may have had 6 if they had played McCown against the Chargers.

In today's NFL, there is just no excuse for finishing with that record. The Browns played four teams who won 5 or fewer games this season. We could say they were tanking, but even the next worst team won 3.

They have been tanking for 15 years. It hasn't worked.

I really thought it was over for Marvin Lewis, but I guess that nice run from 2009 to 2015 was enough to save him. There were some injuries too, so perhaps the Bengals thought Lewis wasn't to blame. That said, I think the team and especially its fans could use freshening up and this was a wasted opportunity to get that started.

Since the Browns reformed in 99, they have had 2 winning seasons in 19 years. The way the NFL works, that is almost impossible. It all could have been avoided if they had given Modell a stadium. Ironically, they gave one to this shit show.

It has nothing to do with any of that.  The Brown family had a cheap patsy that keeps them competitive.  This has been speculated for years, and I think this slams it home.

Lewis had/has one of the best positions in regards to job security.

Lewis has never demanded big money, because he has not had the success to do so.

Lewis brings name recognition and his teams do not totally collapse in regards to wins and losses.

Perfect guy for the Brown family.

I wonder how the Bengals fan base is reacting to this- it is a real head scratcher! And this is a comment from me, a Lions fan!
