They have had the WHL junior Seattle Thunderbirds since 1985 and before that they were known as the Seattle Breakers since 1977. Before that they were the Kamloops Chiefs starting in 1973. The Thunderbirds won the WHL championship last season and have had great crowds since their inception.

The NHL is a global game like the NBA.

For years the old owner of the Rockets blocked any NHL teams from coming in unless he was the owner. The new owner says he'd welcome an NHL team. Who in the NHL is looking to move? Carolina, I heard. The Florida teams?

It's nowhere near the level of popularity the NBA is . Hockey is mainly popular in North America and northern Europe. The NBA is huge everywhere just like soccer.

Neither team as well as the Yotes won't be moving. Bettman won't allow it even though all three are bleeding money. How the Canes sold for double their value despite all of their financial losses really puzzles me.

The NBA is a good commodity worldwide, unlike MLB and NHL (NFL is a bit more difficult to assess). But you just don't have popular local basketball teams that could even dare to rival local soccer teams. So it's a bit like WWE fans who wouldn't even consider going to local wrestling shows in say Portugal

Not as global as the NBA or European soccer.

Lots of people around the world are basketball players; many are fans of players. But teams? No. Wherever I go in the world I see allegiance to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd, increasingly Chelsea and Man City. Plus local clubs. I don't see NBA teams anywhere. And that includes the Americas.
