Get a low 4th and next year's 2 (plus this year's 2) for the 32nd pick? OK, I guess. My thinking is that no one left was that high on the board for the Eagles to justify making the pick.
When you draft at 32, you are getting basically one of the last, if not THE last guy that could be considered "first round talent".  In some cases where a draft isn't very deep, those with first round talent may run out in the 20s.  For the Eagles - who everybody knows are fighting with the salary cap - trading out of the first round will save them a fair amount of money with whomever they draft in the 2nd round.  If they have 3-4 players on the board that they are looking at, they can just take whomever falls to them and get them on the cheap, instead of being stupid like the Raiders were and reaching for their OL.

Good pick.

Buffalo seems to be doing things right this year.

Don't know if trading up to get Josh Allen was such a good idea. We'll see how he is accepted in the Bills locker room.

Yeah, I posted the one story in which they ripped the Allen pick and said he may be worse than Tyrod Taylor and then really insulted him by comparing him to J.P. Losman! LOL

Agree with that but with the 32nd pick the team also holds the rights for an extra year.  I actually agree with trading down in this case.  The 3 teams that I don't understand at all are the Saints (WTF?), the Cowboys (who desperately need WR's) and the Browns.  Mayfield has bust written all over him.  I also thought the CB at 4 was a stretch.  I actually think Mayfield would have made it to the 4th pick.  They could have taken Barkley with the 1st.  He is the exception to the rule against taking a RB high.  He can do all 3 things very well.

As for the Eagles, they should just draft the best player on their board at 52 and not worry about the position.

Mayfield is high risk.

I probably would have went Barkley first. They also said that the Jets were enamored with Mayfield or was that all smoke? We will never know.

I do think this QB class was overrated.

Totally agree with your assessment on the QB class. I don't see any Wentz or Goff with these guys. I actually think Jackson will eventually be the surprise and that someone in a later round will be better than the 4 taken high.

I missed how bad Josh Allen’s accuracy was in college. Many former QBs and analysts do not believe that can be imlrkved at this point in time.

Whoops!  Many former QBs and analysts do not believe it can be improved at this point in time.

Have to say the Eagles stole Goedert at 49. An absolutely great pick for them. When it was announced that the Eagles traded up 1 spot ahead of Dallas, the Cowboys war room went into panic mode. It was justified. There were some in the org who thought Goedert should have been taken in the first round. They took a chance and got burned. Now, they have no viable tight end.

For Jones, this was going to be the perfect fit. Not to be.

BTW - he fell to 49 because he had an injury at the combine and could not do most of the tests.
