The Dodgers announced Monday that star shortstop Corey Seager needs Tommy John surgery and will miss the remainder of the season with a right UCL sprain.
Today, the Dodgers recalled Breyvic Valera from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed Corey Seager on the 10-day DL with a right UCL sprain. Seager will undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) April 30, 2018
Seager, 24, was batting .267 with two home runs and 13 RBIs in 26 games this season before the injury. He hit 48 home runs combined during the last two seasons, while batting over .300 during that time.
Los Angeles (12-15) is just fourth in the National League so far this season while dealing with a number of injuries. With Seager out, and Justin Turner still not back in the lineup, the Dodgers are now without two of their top hitters from last season's World Series runner-up team.
Seager's absence leaves a huge hole in the Dodgers' lineup, but they may be able to procure Orioles shortstop Manny Machado, who was briefly on the trading block this winter with his contract ending after the season.

Dave Roberts might not last the season at this point. I read a profile on him in SI and he seems like a legit nut, and then he benches Bellinger for no reason in his disastrous attempt to motivate the team. He has social skills that put him high on the autism scale and his purely sabermetric approach has completely failed. Enough of this guy.

The Phillies manager is all in on sabermetrics. He backed off a little bit after a disastrous opening weekend. The Phillies have had the easiest in baseball so far and people have gotten a little too excited. Looks like it will be another long season. I was hoping that Bryce Harper would be a Phil next year but I doubt he will want to play for this nut job.
