Las Vegas, Winnipeg, Tampa, Washington

Am i wrong in thinking this is potential 'ratings disaster'?

Not if Vegas makes it to the finals.

I was thinking the Vegas story may have some interest. But other than that. Ugh.

I haven’t watched one second of the playoffs. Yeah - this could be bad.

I've been following Winnipeg- good fast young team that will be around for a few years!! Just wish they played with more consistency.

I also think it's about time for Vegas to get beat ending their Cinderella season .

I'm torn on TB/Wash, 2 teams that have been there and fizzled out in the past. Rooting for Stevie Y in TB.

A TB/Winnipeg final will be a record low rating I am sure.

NBC wants Washington to grab the DC metro area and the big Northeast markets that have some regional rivalry interest. Plus Alex Ovechkin is a big star. The obvious want from the West is Las Vegas because the team potentially winning the championship in its first year is unprecedented and would garner a ton of casual interest. Winnipeg isn't wanted because Canadian markets don't count for ratings in the U.S. and the two involved markets will always get bigger ratings than any other. On the other hand, in Canada having the Jets in the Stanley Cup Final will increase the already high interest and ratings. The Lightning are an outstanding team, but feel somewhat anonymous to me as a casual fan.

You know, in 'other sports' (baseball and football and basketball) there is always the cry for 'new blood' but whenever it happens, down go the ratings.

Hockey may be different for all I know but when one of those teams gets in that haven't won anything ever .......

Jets had never won an NHL playoff series ever...in both versions of the Jets. This year they have won three so far.

Hoping for Vegas and Tampa

Vegas winning it all? Honestly i dont know what to think about that. Teams like the Leafs go 50 years without the Cup and then an expansion team with castaway players win?? LOL

Shocked that Winnipeg beat Nashville in game 7 in Nashville's on barn. I saw something on Outside The Lines on ESPN (only show that I watch on there) and Bob Ley said that Vegas has fans from all over the globe rooting for them.

Go Jets. I sure that faggit Bettman isn't happy with the final 4 even though he is directly responsible for the existence of two of the teams.
He thought there was no way when the Jets returned to the NHL that we'd sell out the MTS  Centre and season tickets were gone in 10 minutes or something ridiculous like that.
Had it not been for Gretzky and the Oilers the Jets may well have won a Cup in the Hawerchuk days or seriously challenged at least.

No expansion team previously ever got the quality of players Vegas did. Vegas vs Pittsburgh would have done good ratings probably with Fleury possibly beating his old team.

Not if Vegas makes it to the finals.

Then it's a disaster for the bookies and odds makers.

Yep. The Golden Knights were anywhere from 250- to 500-1 at the start and were bet heavily by the Vegas locals.

Vegas is a team that did not get any first line players (outside of Fleury), but basically has three number 2 lines, and they are fast as a team. That was more than enough to overpower the Pacific Division, who did not have teams who could skate with them. Winnipeg and Nashville were always going to be the teams Vegas was going to run into trouble against.
