Rusty but healthy a better option.
Would be interesting to know how much they are practicing.
Think we will start to see this more and more as time goes by.
How many players out for the season already so far?

At this point with the concussion protocols and such it’s probably a great idea

I will bet that they start poorly because of this. Or somebody key will get hurt because they haven't had enough game contact.

This. In THEORY it sounds like a good idea BUT those preseason games serve a purpose..and some of those injuries they think they're avoiding by skipping these games probably will happen in regular season games now anyway..

In theory having more of your starters healthy should give you a better chance to win. Contact has been reduced all of the way down to the youth level and nobody’s leg has popped off yet that I am aware of in a game at the first feeling of regular season contact so I’m sure it will be fine. I think the rusty theory is a bit over hyped; it’s not like these guys have full time off season jobs. Football is their life and they are training year around.

Let me know how it goes and I can stand corrected if need be.

I'll say its a disadvantage. Teams whose o-line have been getting whistled for holding all preseason know what they have to work on. The Rams don't.

The only problem I have with it is that the teams charge the same price for tickets as a reg season game and most teams force season ticket holders to buy them as well.

I'm pretty certain that all 32 teams force preseason tickets on their season ticket holders.  The last two holdouts in 1997 were the Jets and Redskins, and I know in 1999 the Jets made it mandatory.  So if there's any left at all, it's the Skins.  And it's ridiculous because a friend has Giants season tickets and four seats to tonights Patriots game with a parking pass cost him $750, it's $175 face plus $50 parking.  He ate them because nobody wants preseason tickets.

In Adrian Peterson's peak Vikings seasons he largely didn't play in preseason. We're talking a series or two at best for a couple of years and then a couple of years of not even suiting up. I wouldn't recommend it for every player, but some guys can sit out and not miss a step.

Disadvantage. They need to hit and get hit and get their legs under them. New rules they have to know and how much is allowed. They got lucky they get the Raiders the first week. I'm betting Goff has a shitty first game.

I would bet their timing is way off, especially Goff to Brandin Cooks.  And I would think that while Gurley is fresh, he hasn't been game hit yet and could wear down faster in week one.  The Raiders defense isn't that great, so they might get by, but the Rams are a good team and shouldn't play games with their talent like that - September wins are just as important as December wins.

And if the Rams win the Super Bowl we'll never see another starter for any team play in a preseason game ever again

So what happened? Was it a big mistake?
