I watched about 20 minutes total this week and I thought it was fine for what it was. The sideline interviews are silly and like mentioned some of the rules seem to just be there to be different and don’t actually make anything better.

Does anyone have the actual game times, play counts, commercial breaks and what they look like compared to an average NFL game? Wasn't a selling point that it was going to be more action and less stopping?

I won’t purposely watch but if it’s on I might as it wasn’t bad.

ABC announced today that the inaugural XFL game did 3.3 million viewers. They said that the audience grew as the game went on, which is a good sign of interest. They did 4.0M viewers in the 4:45 to 5:00 p.m. quarter hour.

Last year's inaugural AAF game, by, comparison, did 2.9M viewers on CBS.

The XFL has a much better TV clearance so it will be interesting to see how the games do as the weeks go on. But, for week one that game beat what Raw or Smackdown does for a usual broadcast.

I know it's a different era but this pales in comparison to Week 1 numbers for the initial launch of the XFL, and we know how that ended. If they can maintain these numbers by mid-season, everyone would be thrilled. But I'd be shocked.

The viewing figures for any TV show in the US are always way bigger for the premiere than what they eventually settle on. I'll predict that XFL games will be struggling to break 1m viewers by the end of the month.

Phil Mushnick's NY Post ran a very positive article on the Guardians' debut.

Might fill a niche if they stay as afternoon games. Not much going on until baseball begins.

Cool. Dallas is officially the worst draw in the league.

A part-time stadium worker in Seattle tested positive for the Coronavirus, putting future XFL games there in question. As of now, all sporting events at the stadium will go on as planned with increased safety guidelines. Washington State has been hit really hard though, so continuing to hold public events is a concern.

OK, a friend of mine went to Metlife last weekend. They are only selling tickets to the side opposite of the hard camera. He took pictures of the field from his seats, and it was something else. I'm going to try and get those pics and post one or two here. And I was in NJ last Saturday at Medieval Times, and it was fucking COLD. The wind was about 35-40 and pretty steady.

And there goes the XFL. From their Twitter account;

"We will not be finishing the season.

We are not going away. We are not folding. This is to protect the public health.

If you numbnuts want to crack jokes, go ahead. We can take it and everyone can use a good laugh now.

We will be fucking back"

Stay classy, XFL

I sincerely wonder if Vince wrote that himself?
Edit: I don’t actually see it on Twitter though so not sure if this is real.

A lot of third party news sites were reporting/displaying the potty-mouthed XFL tweet, this morning...so I'm wondering where it came from.

Here are examples:
https://thehill.com/homenews/media/487406-xfl-ends-season-early

https://dmlnews.com/report-another-sports-league-cancels-season-we-will-be-f-ing-back-in-2021/

I saw it on CNN.com, this morning (and that's where I copied the tweet from)...but it appears to have been pulled.
