If that's true he might get a lifetime ban. What's total bullshit is that teams have been cheating for 100 years.  A lifetime ban is pretty ridiculous - the only true rule that causes that is gambling.  If they try this, Cora will sue and he will win.  And MLB will end up having to pay him to NOT work because the court will agree that they illegally blacklisted Cora from working.  I'm not an Astros fan, or a Red Sox fan, and I love that these teams are getting punished.  But I think the punishment that Hinch and Luhnow got was severe enough.  I think Cora should get the same punishment.  I also feel that Beltran should get no punishment, as he was a player at the time and players were granted immunity.  The Astros as a team should have faced harsher penalties, especially in regards to the draft.  They should have been forced to make all of their draft picks for the next three years at the end of the draft, thus watering down their farm system.  To lose a first and second for two seasons is weak.  And a $5m fine to a billionaire?  Weak.  He should be forced to cover the luxury tax money for every team for the next five years, that way these teams that don't spend would be encouraged to spend because they wouldn't have to pay the piper.  He also should not receive any of the revenue sharing money for five years.

I was thinking why they didn't give the Astros a "Death Sentence" and annul their World Series championship. Then I figured MLB has suspected that sign stealing has been going on not just in Houston, but around the league. The strongest case was against Houston, so they got busted and were made an example of.

They can't white-out their championship, because that would open up the question of "well, who else has been cheating?" Give the 2017 WS Trophy to the Dodgers-- or vacate it altogether-- then everybody has a case for opening an investigation for some reason, and it'll never end. Houston won 101 games in 2017, so you'd have to go back and adjust those wins, which would affect the teams who lost those games, in a big domino effect.

I'm not a big believer in the draft in any pro sport, so I'm kinda' "meh" on seeing that punishment.

What good would stripping them of the title do?  You can't replay the postseason.  They cheated against everyone, in the ALDS, ALCS, and WS.  Handing the trophy 2 years later to the Dodgers would be unsatisfying for L.A. and unfair to the AL teams they beat to get there.  It's just a mess.  But the Astros personnel involve deserve the harshest of penalties and I'm glad they're getting them.

I think the Astros should not be stripped of the 2017 World Series Title, but if that happened, then there'd be no winner that season. The title would be listed as vacant, like how the NCAA vacated the 2013 basketball championship that Louisville won. Officially, no champ was crowned in 2013 due to that action.

LOL@ stripping them for stealing signs, lmao baseball and it is fake outrage continues

from steroids and the stupidity of keeping Clemons and Bonds out of hall of fame til fans wanting a team stripped of a world championship for stealing signs lmao

suspension is fine since the astros were told to knock it off and management didn't head the words so they will be gone from baseball for 5 yrs but that should be the end of punishment

Stealing signs electronically in this day and age is a lot different than it ever was before given technological advances.  Stealing signs with the naked eye is still an accepted part of the game, but you can't just put a webcam in the other team's locker room.

Wow!  That one seems a bit harsh.  There's a difference between players cheating and organizational cheating.  He should've been punished, but not fired.

And not a peep from any of the players.

Gag order perhaps, haven't heard anything to that effect.

Verlander should be suspended for the season and we should all be allowed to fuck his wife during that time.

There has to be a more severe deterrent. One that will really leave a mark.

Line up every from both organizations in front of a pit filled with lye and shoot them. They'll never cheat at baseball again.

This is getting worse instead of better. Trevor Bauer of the Indians now makes the explosive claims that some Astros hitters, including Altuve and Bregman, wore wire devices under their uniforms that the bench could buzz to signal what pitches were coming. If proven, heads could start to roll amongst players as well, and it's still not out of the realm of possibility that the WS title could be stripped.  MLB says that thus far their investigation has not turned up conclusive evidence of that.
