He was really pissed he was bypassed this year. Looking at his stats there are a lot of players more deserving then he .

I saw his freak out today and it kind of made me chuckle. Why was the film crew present?

In a vacuum his stats don’t seem that impressive but I’ve never bothered to look them up in comparison to his contemporaries.

Roger Craig was dissed, so FUCK Drew "one play" Pearson. Roger is arguably the greatest fullback in NFL history, let alone a ground breaking halfback. He was the first 1,000/1,000 (rushing and receiving in the same season yards) guy ever in 1985...he was a blocking fullback going into the season!

He played with Tony Hill and his numbers are similar and you don't see him blow a fuse.
ESPN sent a film crew and reporters to his house. They thought he was going to get in and wanted to get his reaction.

I’ve always felt like the hall of fame in any sport should be for absolute no brainers like Montana, Ronnie Lott, Lawrence Taylor etc. football fans of the future will hear of these guys Drew Pearson not so much.

His numbers are comparable with Lynn Swann, who was in on the first ballot years ago.

And even though Lynn was/is one of my all-time favorite football players, I don't think he's a hall of famer in my opinion.

How can you look at stats and judge.... only way for this to make sense is if we look at stats of his era and judge...

like wide receivers nowadays will make anybody who played  pre "Peyton Manning crying like a lil bitch about the Pats" stats look weak.

So only way for us to have this convo is too see where does he rank with the wide receivers of his era
Plus if he is named to the NFL All decade team how is he not a hall of famer
But the logjam at wide receiver is going to screw up alot of wide receivers from past

Pearson is better than Swann and Stallworth. Then again, so is Cliff Branch.

Statistically, Pearson was better than Swann. Stallworth played longer, and Pearson was comparable but short. I did not watch until 1980, only seeing the old footage via NFL Films and/or games I traded for over the years. Back then, Pearson was considered one of the top 5 in football at WR. Swann and Stallworth were not. Drew Pearson is a HOFer. And unlike the Joe Namath rule where he pretty much got in due strictly to talent playing on a lousy team that he carried to Super Bowl 3...Swann and Stallworth got in due to lobbying of players of their era. Pearson was considered their superior at the time, but didn't win four rings. That is why I think he got screwed over.

I think a lot of the Hall of Fame selections (no matter the sport) are mostly popularity contests. Of the receivers mentioned in previous posts, Swann is probably the most well known since he also worked as a sports analyst / announcer for ABC when he retired.

Swann was athletically gifted, but you could force him out of the game with the right game plan - that being, tight man to man coverage.  He wasn't going to get down and dirty when needed.  Drew Pearson was, at times, uncoverable.  He is the ONLY member of the All-Decade 1970s team to not be in the Hall of Fame.  So yeah, the media just doesn't like him.

Probably based on who has already gone in who is pretty comparable.  And seeing as how Halls Of Fame now are really Halls Of The Very Good.

He played with Tony Hill and his stats are similar if not better.Harold Carmichael got in playing in the same era with superior stats. Pearson should know if he gets in it would be after Carmichael.
