Major sports.

But looking for the person that has been cheering on the Mets/Nets/Jets or similar combination of hopelessness.

Me, me, pick me, the lifetime Lions fan.
It took a long time before my Red Wings quenched my thirst, in 1997/98.

Been a casual Titans fan since they moved to TN. They're the only one on my list, but prior to them moving nearby, I was a 49ers fan so I've had my share of Super Bowl wins.

Birmingham City for over 40 years. Never won the League, highest finish in my lifetime is 9th and highest ever is 6th. Never won the FA Cup, twice finalists, last time 1956.

We did however win the League Cup in 2011, our only serious major honour in 145 years.

To be fair, most genuine football fans would be able to say the same thing. Just in the Premier League, West Ham haven't won anything since 1980, Wolves not since 1979, Southampton not since 1976, Newcastle not since 1969, West Brom not since 1968, Burnley not since 1960, Sheffield United not since 1925. Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Brighton never.

That's half of the top division where you'd need to be at least 45 to remember winning one of the three major trophies on offer. In the lower divisions it's far longer, only us, Wigan, Portsmouth, and Swansea have won anything in the last 15.

Well if we look at the now Brooklyn Nets, I was present for their ABA championship win in Game 6 against the Denver Nuggets at the Old Barn. After that, I had season tickets for those dullards at least 10 years of the last 44. They haven't even sniffed at the title even though the did make the finals in 2002 and 2003 only to be totally destroyed both times. Fuck those guys anyway.

Gonna guess most if not all Toronto Maple Leafs fans that frequent this board can put their hands up here.

Nothing for the Texas Baseball Rangers. Fairly sure that'll be the case till long after I'm gone.

Being a Niner, Giant, and Warrior fan I haven't seen a championship since 2018. LOL. Still waiting for the Sharks to do something. They were sooo close one year.

We won a World Series in 1990, and a few good teams in the years since, but the Reds really haven’t made any significant noise in quite awhile.

And yeah, lifelong Bengals fan here. The Super Bowl runner-up in 89 was cool, and I was only a few weeks old in our other appearance in 82 so I can’t really count that one.

Thankfully we still have the Buckeyes.

Leafs are my only team left. Chiefs won this year. Jays 92/93. Raptors last year.

I'm likely the only one here who actually saw the Leafs win their last Stanley Cup in '67.

I can remember being an Aberdeen fan since 1987. Three years prior we were unquestionably the best team in Scotland and arguably the best team in Europe, certainly one of the best. In my memory, we have won one major cup and three minor cups. Many second place finishes in the league, once even in the lead with one match to play. Never seen us win it all though, and I doubt I ever will.

I am glad I got to see the Twins win the World Series twice.

Even if the NCAA and the Big Ten subsequently vacated Minnesota's 1996-97 conference title and trip to the Final Four (they lost to Kentucky in the semis but just getting there was truly enough for me), that was possibly my single favorite sports season ever for a Minnesota team.

However, the big one is the Vikings have made but lost four Super Bowls and have not played in one since the 1976 season, losing the NFC Championship Game in 1977, 1987, 1998, 2000, 2009, and 2017 since then. I was not born or was too young to get what was happening and what it meant during those Super Bowl seasons in 1969, 1973, 1974, and 1976, so to me the Vikings have effectively never played in the Super Bowl. It doesn't eat at me the way it does a lot of other Vikings fans who have the equivalent of the New York Rangers 1940 and Boston Red Sox 1918 complexes before those teams won it all. However, I am now getting to the point of wondering if I'll ever see the Vikes play in a Super Bowl, let alone win it.

As for the Timberwolves, not being a joke would be fine. In a league that lets more than half of the teams into the playoffs each season, somehow the Twolves have managed to miss the NBA Playoffs in 15 of the last 16 seasons. Never mind the title, just become respectable.

The Wild are a team I want to like, but just can't get into. I miss the North Stars, but will never root for the Dallas Stars.

Gopher Football was last a legit power in the 1960s. A lot of heartbreak has happened since. Naturally with 2020 looking like the best season the team could have since the early 1960s, it's in a Covid-19 ruined season in which they'll play a dramatically reduced schedule, could face Covid-19 altering the schedule as well as possibly scrubbing games or ending the season prematurely, and no fans will be allowed to attend games live this season. A National Championship is not realistic, but a chance at playing in the Rose Bowl is and it so often seems like it's a goal that's too far out of reach.
