Hank Aaron will be synonymous with being the "Home Run King" for all-time. I always have to stop and think if his record was broken and Barry Bonds never immediately comes to mind. Hank Aaron hit 755, Babe Ruth hit 714, I have no idea how many Bonds hit nor do I really care. And the most RBIs and total bases in history, plus a BA over .300. If anyone as legendary as Aaron can be underrated, he actually may be.

I remember in an interview he was going to sign with the Giants in the 60's to play with Willie Mays but the Braves offered him 50 dollars more.

When Borders Books went out of business in 2011 or 2012, I picked up this book: https://www.amazon.com/Last-Hero-Life-Henry-Aaron/dp/0307279928 I still haven't finished it because it's become my "vacation" book. Whenever we take a long flight or stay somewhere with some down time, I read it. I'm about 80% through. Fascinating look at a complicated man though. He was a quiet guy and wanted to keep to himself, so the press ate that up and painted him as a dummy. That was the furtherst thing from the truth. He was quite intelligent, but because of the state of society back then, he went along with it. The other thing that sticks out in my mind is when the Braves moved to Atlanta. His 2nd wife was trying to get into Fulton County Stadium through the players entrance before a home game, and the security wouldn't let her in (didn't believe she was Mrs. Aaron), and it just blew up. He calmed her down eventually and handled the situation with as much grace as he could. He was a leader in that respect. And of course, a great ballplayer.
