Expecting 40,000
No masks

Too soon?

Never should have been this way in the first place?

I'd think anyone going that day believes the risk is minimal. Anyone that thinks it is dangerous won't go. So let them try and pack the place, gotta start sometime. Whether it fucks people up or not, it'll set the pace for other US based teams in states that are like-minded in trying to get stuff reopened.

Someone has to go first...

It’s time. Let’s do this. WM expecting 45,000 each night from what I heard. If there are no major spikes in deaths in Texas and Florida in the next 2 months I really don’t want to hear about this anymore. But you know if 5 people get mild symptoms people will freak out and say we should shut down for another decade.

I’m thinking about going to the Welcome to Rockville festival at Daytona Beach in November. By then I should be vaccinated and I expect it to be very close to a pre-Covid event, full capacity and probably no masks. If we can’t be doing stuff like this by November then we never will, and I’m not sitting around the house the rest of my life.

If you can have 25% capacity at restaurants, there’s no reason why you couldn’t always do this. It has to be far safer.

People make their own choices. I wouldn’t go to the Rangers game right now. By November I’m willing to go to Florida. Other people are going to do what they want to do. Texans overwhelming want this and those that don’t will keep staying home. If the whole state winds up dead then they have no one to blame but themselves. But we all know that as a worse case scenario there might be like 5 deaths.  If they die for a team that went 22-38 last year then that’s their business. The narrative of people bringing it home to their grandparents is played out now since that demo HAS been vaccinated now, unless they chose not to be.

There'll be plenty of "social distancing" when we're 40 games out of first in August.

Yankee Stadium announced they will be open at 20% capacity as of Opening Day, with capacity hopefully increasing throughout the season.

Restaurant capacity was increased to 35% capacity and I assume that barring any major outbreaks, you will see the same at stadiums around July 4.

By my math, 20% capacity for Yankee Stadium is 13,500 fans and Citi Field is a little over 10,000.

There's no evidence that outdoor transmission is a thing.

It doesn’t make sense for outdoor transmission to be impossible, but I’m sure it’s harder.
