I'm going to Montreal Nov. 13-16 and I'd be open to going to a good concert one of those nights. Of course just my luck Megadeth/Slayer is there Nov. 11 and Def Leppard Nov. 18, so I just miss them both. I find it hard to believe nothing good is happening on the weekend. Anyone know of any concerts? Is the Bell Centre pretty much it or are there any other venues that I should be checking?

| Go to Chez Paree. You'll thank me later.

Oh, I've already received that recommendation several times. I'll be heading there. And it's only a block from the Bell Centre if that fucking place had anything worth seeing that weekend.

Wanda's ( if it is still around ) is a fine establisment to spend a few hours in too. I actually got kicked in the face by a table dancer while I was there for a stag party back about 20 years ago.

See what happens when I try to be good and NOT ask about strip clubs. Well fuck, go ahead and give me those recommendations too. Nightclubs/lounges/bars also.

You have picked a bad time to visit Montreal as far as seeing a show. The only thing at the Bell Centre between the 13th and the 16th is The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. If you were staying an extra day you could probably get tickets to the Carolina vs Montreal hockey game.

Elsewhere around the city there really is not much happening either. You could always check out the French Film Festival ( runs from November 5th to 15th ) or the Image+nation Gay & Lesbian Film Festival which lasts all of November. But if those don't interest you check out this site:

Go a couple days earlier for Megadeth and Slayer.
Have some Montreal smoked meat (CH may know where, I don't) and some poutine.
Wasnt "Superstars" a great strip club back in the day? Or was that just a nightclub? Sorry, can't remember.
Montreal is fun though, you should have a blast.

I haven't been up to Montreal since the summer of 2005 but these are some areas you should hit.
Go over to St Laurent street and hit Scwartz's smoked meat
Go around Crescent and Bishop, just off St Catherine and there's a bunch of bars/clubs
Same thing if you go south on St Laurent, you hit this area with a bunch of Cobblestone streets, there's some decent stuff in Old Montreal down there
Buy daily subway passes to get around since it's the easiest way to travel.

| Is the language barrier going to be a huge deal or do most people speak English? Some people who go there a lot have told me it won't be an issue at all, others have told me a French-English dictionary will come in handy.

The further east you go, the more french it is. West end of the city, English is fine. 90% of the city you'll be fine. If you run into some aholes who only want to speak french you say these phrases
If some bitch is giving you trouble you go
' Tu es un putain"
or
Va te faire enculer
That should handle 99% of situations.

Too bad there wasn't a hockey game as it's always worth it to see a Montreal home game. The last two times I was there a couple of years ago now I was there for business and besides a hockey game didn't get to do much. The last time I regret as my flight got canceled until the next afternoon so I basically had a free night, but I never did get my ass in gear to go "downtown. The weather was shitty and I was staying at an hotel out beside the airport.
Chez Paree is good. What about the Super Sexy? Is that still around? It's an expensive town to party in though...especially if you start hopping around to all the strip clubs. They all want a piece of your wallet. I myself cannot handle that, but being from New York City, I'm sure you're well prepared for that.
It's definitely a city I would love to have the opportunity to live in. I'll take Montreal over T.O. any day.
