The second this guys steps out of his vehicle, all bets are off. His "testosterone jacked ego" was likely coursing at full speed because of their training, in which they're taught to treat every traffic stop as one that could potentially end their lives. That's why they get nervous when you don't stay in your car. Or show your hands. Or don't comply when you're asked sixty times to do something.
If anything, I think this cop showed restraint to the point that it was starting to become life threatening to him.
And as far as rossi's "convenient that they threw him by a car..." comment...all's I can say is, "Come on. Really?"

In the heat of the struggle he paused to ponder where the perfect spot to brutalize the guy was. He then was skilled enough to force the sweet innocent driver into that spot where brutalized him with what sounded like punches.
