G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Loved it. I was a huge G.I. Joe mark when I was a kid. Had all the toys, etc. Not sure if I was feeling some nostalgia, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The Superman suits were kinda stupid.
Up
Great. I watch a lot of kid movies (with my kids) and this one was very, very good. Good balance between telling a very touching story and making it funny at the same time.
G-Force
My kids liked it. It sucked.
Monsters vs. Aliens
Another great one from Dreamworks. BOB was hilarious. Didn't realize House was the Roach until looking at IMDB.
Watchmen
Finally got around to watching this. Loved it. Kelly Leak was great. The scene with him in the prison where he tells them that he is not locked up with them, they are locked up with him will go down as Top 10 scenes of all time.
True Blood: Season 2
Didn't realize that the main bad chick was the Admiral on Battlestar Glactica until late in the season. I thought she looked familiar. I still like the series. I prefer the first season, but season 2 ramped up the sex and gore, which I like. Looking forward to Season 3.

Watched The Big Lebowski tonight via Netflix. It'd been a while, so I needed my Lebowski fix. I think I've decided on what I consider the funniest bit in that movie: it's after Jackie Treehorn gives the Dude the two caucasians and the Dude beefs it face down on the glass table, then you get Sam Elliot's voice, "darkness washed over the Dude. Darker than a dark steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night." Funny as hell.

Saw it last night. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be based on the reviews. I really didn't remember much about the characters and had to Wiki them during the movie to refresh my memory, but it seemed somewhat faithful to the mythology with a couple of glaring exceptions (like the Baroness). It was fine for a shoot-em-up summer action movie, especially compared to Transformers. On the down side, Channing Tatum in the lead role was just embarrassing and I couldn't help but picture John Cena in "The Marine" every time he opened his mouth. He almost killed the movie for me. I also could've done without Ripcord suddenly becoming a black Wayans brother. And I think someone saw "Team America" one too many times and began to wonder what it would be like to make that movie without the comedy. Then there was all the "Star Wars" stuff at the end (he's really your brother, he's really your sister, I thought you were dead, let's put on cool masks and do the big Darth Vader reveal at the end) which made it come across as a rip-off.

My favorite movie of 2009 and in my top 20 all-time. I can't believe so many people hated it. Just pure awesomeness for all 3 hours. I have the soundtrack too.

I thought this, too. I would've actually preferred Cena in this role. At least that would have added some (unintended) comedy.

Watched "The Story of Anvil." Great movie, although the "This is Thirteen" album is awful when you actually listen to it.
I got "12 Rounds" at the library thinking it would unintentionally funny. I thought it was surprisingly okay.

I have to say I am one that wanted to like Watchmen but hated it. The Walter Kovacs/Rorschach charater was outstanding but the others I really didn't get.

GI Joe was better than I thought it would be.
FYI Star Trek comes out the 17th on DVD.

I thought Watchmen was fantastic. BUT, you had to read the graphic novel, as there were so many little things in the movie that wouldn't have made sense otherwise. If you see the dvd for Black Freighter, there is a featurette which is a '60 minute' type documentary on the character in the graphic novel, who wrote the book about the Minutemen (can't remember his name), and it is amazing. It goes even deeper into the graphic novel and is an excellent companion to the film.

This. Also, hearing Bob Dylan and Jimi in digital theater surround sound was worth the price of admission. In fact, the opening credits with The Times They Are A-Changin was among my favorite parts.

I didn't read the graphic novel and I loved it and didn't get lost at all. I saw the Black Freighter with the documentary and enjoyed the hell out of it and it added some depth to the movie, but it wasn't necessary for enjoying the movie.

So far this holiday weekend I've seen Bruno and Star Trek and loved the hell out of both of them. This was the best Star Trek movie ever and was what the Star Wars prequels should've been (and yeah, I know Star Trek isn't technically a prequel). Next up is Angels & Demons, which I'm not expecting to like as much but the book was decent as far as populist novel trash goes. I lost a few brain cells reading it but it had its entertaining moments.

| I caught up on some movies on HBO and Showtime On Demand. Watched Rocknrolla which was ok, not as good as the other guy ritchie movies. Also watched Death at a Funeral. That was better. Caught up on a few weeks of Sons of Anarchy, and this whole season so far of Nip/Tuck.

Actually liked RocknRolla quite a bit, although it's been ages since I've seen it. I believe it's the first of a trilogy but I can't remember what the next one will be called.
