One thing I've learned from working in this industry, for way too damn long, is that generally the price of gas lowers or raises, somewhat by the price per barrel of oil.

This price normally takes effect 6 to 8 weeks afterwards so just because you see that it lowered doesn't mean it takes effect the next day.

Paid $3.89 yesterday and have put $150 in the tank two weeks in a row and on pace for the same this week. Absolutely absurd. Nobody answers to anybody.

Yesterday morning gas here was $3.98, then around 3pm there was a fire at the BP Refinery in Whiting, and by 5 pm gas was $4.06.

This morning, gas was $4.06still

Of course the fire had nothing to do with the spike in price.

Was in Virginia over the weekend, it was 3.32.  On the NJ Turnpike it was 3.56 I think.  In Stamford CT it is 3.83, and where I live in a town with one gas station it's been 4.19 for the past three months with no movement.  It hasn't been below 4.00 in my town in around a year and a half.

$3.50 here (Philly) at the "cheap" places

We've completely lost control on the cost of this commodity.
