Well they couldn't get the porta cath in yesterday. The vein they were trying to put it into is being mashed by the swollen lymph nodes around it so they weren't able to get it in. So they fixed a pick line on the underside of my arm by my bicep for the chemo to run through for today, and after 2 or 3 chemo treatments we are gonna revisit the pota cath insertion. They seem to think the swollen lymph nodes around it will have went down enough to put it in then. So in just a little bit it's off to chemotherapy.

Well this week my schedule is going to the hospital on Tuesday morning to get another pick line inserted in my arm. Then come back on Wednesday and see the doctor and get my chemo treatment, and when that's over they will remove the pick line. Then back on Thursday to get the shot that you have to get 24 hrs. after chemo, which helps keep your white blood cells from bottoming out. (which the chemo will make them do). But good news is after my first chemo, I didn't get sick. hopefully I won't this time either. Just keeping my friends at the S&W board posted!!!

Just remember, when you go anywhere, wear one of those surgical masks though, since you will have no immune system, and you will get sick way easier now.

Well, My White Blood Cells bottomed out and They still gave Me the Chemo. Don't always believe what Your Doctors tell You. They will tell You one thing in the beginning and then tell and do something totally different the next time. Always ask for the counts or ask for paperwork seeing the counts and if You don't understand something, ask the Head Nurse in the Infusion Room to get some answers. If You don't like on what's going on, question it until You get the answer You're looking for. Alot has to do with Your age. I was 38 when I started Chemo and They told Me basicaly They were going to see on how much Chemo My body could take and not worry about the White Cell count. Sometimes the Oncologists want to make You into a Guinea Pig and try and do some experimenting on the Patient.
