Anybody use a Tube catcher to capture videos from places like youtube?

I am also looking for something "easy" where I can take a homemade DVD, edit it and then put it on youtube?

This a Tube seems to have good reviews.

Anybody else use anything that is pretty simple to use.

Youtube has a 10 minute limit unless you pay for an account but you can upload VOB files from a DVD.

Using the program PR said above?  How do I create a VOB file then?

Taking videos (movies) uploaded on to youtube and burning them to dvd is very easy. Youtube expanded videos world wide from 10-15 (that was announced)...But eventually as long as you dont put any copyrighted material your account is given rights for 15 min+ videos. There is no limit to time of your videos then.

Than many do upload 1-2 hr movies, tv shows and documentaries.

Anyway, all you have to do is use keepvid.com (I think thats the site)...download in .mp4 file it will be smaller in file size. Use any video converter to change file type to .avi other wise most video burners wont recognize .mp4.

Thats it...However be aware that most/common 4.7g dvd-r only accepts 2hr to 2 1/2 hrs of video...For longer videos you will need a dvd/dl-dr (double length).

I did this when someone finally uploaded satellite version of Starrcade 86 and a few movies not available on dvd yet.

convoy is bang-on about this as I have been asking on other boards about conversion software for youtube material (a few days before this post came up, ironically enough). keepvid is the one that most people point to. I have experimented with it and it seems to be very good.

My problem, however, is that I have an older version of TMPGEnc DVD Author, and it has been difficult converting those files to something I can work with within that version of the program. I should upgrade to a newer version (cracks to version 5, anyone? :)) but I'm so used to the interface on the older version that I loathe having to spend a lot of time getting used to a new one. the newest versions of that program seem to be able to convert a ton of formats for you, though, so it might be the way to go.

I'm gonna play with keepvid a little more and see if I can get it to do what I need it to first.

TMPGEnc DVD Author

Yeah I remember that program, but the encoding took hours and upgrades were took expensive as anything online.

I used that program to create a Tito-Greg, 16 match dvd. But in double dl so cant make copies.

Mine takes about twenty minutes to encode so it's ready to be burned to dvd, and then IMGBurn puts it onto dvd in about 20 minutes after that, so 40 minutes total is what I have to wait for a finished product. That's reasonable for what I use it for.

Excuse my ignorance, but I have no idea what you are talking about when you say to convert a file and what is the best program to do that and what type of file do I want to change it to so that I can place on a DVD?  I never ever dabbled in this stuff before.

Second part of the questions:

P.S. I am also looking for a quick way to rip selected material froma homemade DVD and put it on youtube.

If you download something from youtube to your PC, there is a good chance you will have to convert it to a different file format to make it compatible with whatever dvd authoring program you choose to use. In my case, I have to convert youtube stuff to MPEG1 or MPEG 2 (the product of an older authoring program with little options otherwise). If you have or get a different, more modern dvd authoring program, you may not have the same problem...if you want to make dvds.

As far as making dvds go, I have to save clips of stuff to a hard disk folder using DVD Shrink. From there, I find them with my authoring program and it loads them into their program. No issues with doing it with dvds, just youtube clips at the moment, which is why I am looking to upgrade my authoring program, so there are more options to use youtube clips once I have downloaded them.

I hope that helps clarify what I'm talking about. It can get confusing if you've never tried do do a dvd or download a youtube clip before.

Its free. any video converter.
http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/
best files to convert to are .avi or .mpeg

Ive used it for years...Then use something like windows dvd maker, once the file is converter, window maker should allow you to search your computer for the .avi file or .mpg.

I recently tried to upload a bikini contest we had in JCW, which was between 10-15 minutes, and it uploaded fine but then said it was over the 10 minute limit.
