So, the most intriguing part of the Presidential campaign season for me is the selection of a runningmate.  Always found the speculation about who will be chosen to even out and strengthen the ticket to be exciting.

Here's a list of potential runningmates for John McCain that have been talked about.  Pick your choice, and post your reasons why you feel they'd be best for the job.

Consider this fantasy booking.  If you're against the candidate, play devil's advocate and pick who you think would be best suited to do the job - assume the candidate will be elected and leave the "so and so because then they'll lose!" shit out of it.

I selected Lieberman on the Republican side.  Yes, he's a Democrat - and that's the point.  The Republican party needs to establish itself in the center to capitalize on negative feelings about the current Dem-run Congress, and reinvent itself as the party really interested in solvuing problems across the aisle.

Lieberman and McCain both have established themselves as centrists individually, and presenting a ticket that's uniform in that regard, I think, brings greater appeal and possibly avoids some of the negative perceptions that going to a strict Republican party guy would bring up.

I like Guliani, but the best thing would be for Lieberman to be the VP.

Very similar to yours.  I think he'd be the best choice McCain could make as well.  He's gonna throw this election in the shitter by picking Romney, though.

I picked Rudy G, just becaus I love they guy and he was who I wanted as President..if McCain did select him, it would probably hurt his chances, so there's no way in hell he would pick him,

God help us all if McCain won and he didn't have someone like Romney next to him.  McCain talks about reshaping the Fed without being sure what it does.  He absolutely embarrasses himself when he talks about the economy.  I can't imagine the shape of the economy in 4 years with McCain as President without a businessman and finance guy keeping him in line and hopefully telling him when to shut up.  Even Bush has a better understanding of our economy than McCain.  Too bad Romney's such a nutjob.

So your vote would be Romney, then?  Click and vote if so.

McCain should pick Jeb Bush. He has the Bush name for the far right wingers, but is thought of more towards the middle for the rest of the party.

I get the impression that McCain would have someone like Steve Forbes in place for economy-related side (not as VP). Forbes seems to speak for McCain's economic leanings, and was in that McCain-Giuliani clique as far as his campaign support.

What about Jindal? Too young? Not enough time in any one position?

I like Jindal, but Rudy is my man.  He had my vote, but got turfed out early.

The right would love Jindal.  Rush has said that Jindal is the future of the party.  But, with his inexperience it won't be him for VP.

I'm pretty conservative, and have been a Republican since I was 15, but I hope the far, far right finally gets their death grip off of the GOP.   Dr. Dobson is a mark for himself.  It's in the news that he "may" endorse McCain.  For crying out loud, I think about voting for Obama.

Right now, I think Pawlenty or Romney is the best bet for VP.  Pawlenty won't swing MN, but he is a safe choice.  He shouldn't alienate the right like Rudy or Ridge, and should't alienate the Wall Street Republicans like the Huckster.

I wouldn't mind Romney, he may have flip flopped on social issues, but so did Reagan.

I heard Crist is engaged, and that betters his chance, since there were rumors about him being one of those "bachelors".

Joe I. Lieberman. He's still mostly a Democrat, so him. Sorry, too tired this morning to get more into it than that.
